Dayhiker and the rest of you, (you know who you are) is there any chance of a backpack trip for kids this Fall?

BusyBee has volleyball until the end of September, and then club season resumes in January. She's wanting to take a few trips between volleyball seasons.

We'll have to check our schedules. There's several things going on in Sept. that would make it difficult. Hopefully Oct. will be clearer. Maybe even November.

I have several conflicts through the fall but would sure like to get the kids out if it falls just right.

If it's easy I might be able to drag my daughter along.

Columbus Day isn't really celebrated here like it is in the north. No one misses work or gets out of school, that I know of.

BusyBee has most weekends free Oct - Dec. I know of some places with a short hike and nice camping. Anyone else have any suggestions? BusyBee loves the privys at South Cumberland...ha ha.

I love the Small Wilds area and the hike isn't hard at all. I think it's about 3 miles to the campsite??

If that. It's a nice little hike and the campsite is at a good spot. Plus there are privies, which would pretty much be a requirement for my daughter, lol...

cumberland is probably central to most folks, buts it 10-11 hours for me. I wouldn't plan around us anyway since we are maybes, but just saying.

We haven't been to any of the others listed except for the South Cumberland areas. So, I'm open to anywhere. We're maybes too since fall gets so busy.

I am interested in trying out some camping with my granddaughter who is about 2 and a half. I will try a carcamping trip with her first, but she loves the outdoors.

Yes, but if y'alls are going to Middle Tennessee I'd need those extra days on either end to get past the checkpoints on I-81.
