The movie
So I finally got the Southbounder movie from netflix. Its not stellar filmmaking, but it being about backpacking and the AT more than makes up for that (perhaps not for non-hikers). Still, I can't understand some of the negative comments I've heard about this movie on this site. I haven't finished it yet, but what I have seen of it is pretty cool.

I saw it and it's not a good movie, but it is about the AT and it sort of medicates you for awhile.

I just watched it on Netflicks this week. I really enjoyed it and might even watch it again. My wife who is almost anti-hiking watched it with me but still enjoyed it. Most of the plot and scenes are pretty close to real considering it is a movie.

I sold my copy at a garage sale last Saturday. It is what it is...I enjoyed it.

I've been keeping my eye out for this movie because I'd like to see it. No luck so far at Blockbuster - I wonder if Netflix is my only option.

I went ahead and put it in our queue.

Probably see it around Christmas.

Keep in mind that what makes it interesting is that its a narrative movie with backpacking as the setting. All the non-backpacking stuff isn't very groundbreaking and it won't win any oscars. Also, its not a documentary.

I sort of figured the best way to sort through the reviews is to just watch it and form my own opinion.

Thats usually the best way. I just didn't want you to expect more than it is. I know I have watched movies that were highly touted that didn't live up to the hyped expectations, but I probably would have enjoyed if I hadn't been expecting the second coming.

Never heard of it....Why do I get the feeling that a bunch of 20 year old co-eds are senselessly murdered in the movie?
