I'll be in the area for a few days starting saturday. Maybe we can meet up for a few hours while I am there.

Sorry, I live in the mountains, plus, I will be starting a trip Friday in the eastern side of the Sierra, down by Lone Pine.

I'm headed out of Cottonwood Lakes, over New Army Pass for seven days. Going as far north as the Wright Lakes area. Zigging and zagging for four days, then three days of hiking to get out. Outta my way youngins. Hoping it warms up a little again, but I have my 15 degree bag and a partly read thick book. Doing a route that is supposed to have good fishing, but I way be over my head on trying for the big fish. I hope at least a couple of the lakes have enough fish to keep me occupied.

After the trip to AK, I still need a heavy dose of high Sierra. I've been up and down Piute Pass and into Humphreys Basin area a few times too. Working on more of the southern Sierra now, a lot down there to explore. Been around Mammoth and June Lakes area many times in the Fall, good time to go. Some trips in six days, I will only see six people, usually in a day or two with many days of seeing no one.

I know...there is nothing like the Sierras. It's paradise. Nothing like it anywhere. My heart will always be there. A bad day in the Sierra....

well, there can be no bad days there. It just doesn't happen.

There's Theresa, Maria, David and some others down there (Sac) or close by. I don't think they visit here much anymore.

oh man, I'm jealous - that sounds like an awesome trip. Good call on the heavy bag, just in case. I was up there in August and it dropped down to 18 degrees at French Lake one night... I was freezing my nubbinses off

The trip didn't get off to a good start. Got vertigo at High Lake the first afternoon, sick to my stomach, no dinner. Failed to take some Tylenol before I left the trailhead. Kept asking myself, should I continue or go home. Kept going for a shortened trip anyway. Second night out temps were down to nine degrees then at Crabtee Meadow it got colder, down to four degrees, but that felt like the warmest morning when I got up at 7, no wind for a change. My NeoAir worked great for those nay sayers, was very warm that night.

Hope you had a great trip to Kalifornia.
