Don't feel bad Zac. Nothing here either. Good ole US Postal Service. They call it snail mail for good reason.

Canadian mail goes faster to Switzerland than the US? Is the Pony Express on strike or did they have budged cuts and had to hire mules?

MarkO got his. Maybe Border Protection are confused by the initials being sent to a 'network' and now we're all on the no-fly list.

No luck here. The USPS must have seen the Rhode Island address and sent it by boat.

Question how do you northerners make your fire up there in the snow on the FYAO trip. Don't mean to be absurd but was watching the military channel the other day....and thought I'd ask if you guys try to dig down to solid ground...surely you cant dig through all that snow. Not having been on an FYAO trip I got curious.

Build a log platform on the snow. heavy stuff. Then keep your fire small and controlled moving it along the logs and replacing them as they burn through. Bit like a conveyor, back and forth.
Of course if you dig down you create yourself a wind break and possible shelter.

Erm thanks for the info. I was really asking HOW the northern folks do it...not so much as how I should do it...there is a difference. lol. Have you been to FYAO? Just wonderin. ;)

In years past we just dug down and the fire melts the rest, it does help to start it on a log platform. the area around the fire becomes a dangerous ice rink that slopes towards the fire if you leave snow around it.

Trip is posted....location is top secret, as of now.

It is tradition to keep everyone in suspense....
Actually, it is tradition for people to sign up, never offer suggestions for a location and then complain incessantly about it. That's ok, fellas, I'll think of someplace good.

Still, suggestions are welcome!! :)
