Smith's Knob and Jacoby FallsView MessagesViewing posts 1 to 3 of 3 messages posted.
“It's been about 8 years since I hiked Smith's Knob, a distinctive peak with some nice views along the Loyalsock Trail. We hiked up to a variety of views to the north and south. The foliage was great and there was even a few inches of snow on the summit. The trail drops steeply from the summit and passes another view. A wonderful trail follows with laurel, hemlock, pine, and colorful birches and maples. We followed a forest road for a little and then dropped down to beautiful Painter Run. This is a small creek, but very scenic. The glen is so green- hemlocks, and moss covered boulders. A very beautiful trail that follows the soothing creek closely with its many small cascades and pools. This trail is not blazed, but it is well established. Next up was Jacoby Falls- a 35 foot falls in a remarkable green grotto. Springs poured from the moss covered bedrock and cascaded to the creek. You can even hike behind the falls, where I took some nice shots through the falling water. http://outdoors.webshots.com/album/575165073NgqFAI?vhost=outdoors” 7:18:37 AM 10/19/09 “very awesome pics jeff! that waterfall is really awesome. I went on a hike to Smith's Knob in 2005 with MSilver, but we didn't get over to that waterfall.” 5:59:37 AM 10/20/09
