OK, I admit it....I'm hooked
My boys got me to watching this UFC phenomenom...It's like championship wrastling only it's real. Mixed Martial arts, full contact, whatever you call it, it's pretty good if you like it. We're watching Pay per view right now. UFC# 104....the title bout is coming up...MACHETA!

Anybody else like this crap?

is it still thugs wailing on each other, or has it gotten back to its more martial arts roots?

The title bout tonight is Macheta vs Sogun...they are both true Brazilians(Jujitzu). There's lots of brawlers in the league too but you never know who gonna win these things....on any given night.

I like it. It's interesting

WOw....it went the distance. 5 rounds, unanimous, Machida keeps his belt. A lot of the people thought it was a bad call but all 3 judges called it.....

I usually give the pre-bout nod to the Brazilian jujitsu fighter, though dudes with a wrestling background seem to fare well on the ground. Mui tai is the schzit for the standup game. That and plain old boxing.

Sambo must be pretty lethal. Emilienko Fador is world champion in that, and is considered the baddest human being alive. He's appearing on network tv next month.

I am hooked on this stuff too. I used to love boxing, but now boxing seems boring.

Sarabelle's been training Gizmeaux for about two months. His primary art is ''ressel ups'' - but he's gotten pretty good at ''triks and hops'' too. He tapped me out with a ''nek get'' yesterday. I did not see that one coming.

Not quite! Fourteen of the Martial Arts Techniques, that I have learned, are banned from MMA.

They seem to be most interest in their reruns with knockouts and blood. It appears that they do not even clean-up the blood from the mats between matches!

I have signed up for tai chi chuan chlasses, starting in November. It will be cool and I am excited and looking forward to learn something new. It's the first time I am trying martial arts.

I've been watching it on and off for a while and enjoy seeing the matchup of different styles. I suppose it's designed to answer the questions like 'if a boxer faced a wrestler' or if a karate fighter fought a jujitsu (sp) fighter, who would win?'

I went to a live MMA event on Friday night.

I was underdressed - forgot to wear a tattoo.

Seriously, I think everybody had a tattoo but me and my buddy.

Some of the guys were pretty good, wouldn't want to fight them. The "main event" though, I seriously could beat both of these guys at the same time. They were "professionals", yet not nearly as good as some of the amateurs. I think their weight class classified them as the main-event, but it all it really meant were they were a couple of fat guys without other jobs, trying to make a living that they have absolutely no acumen for, whatsoever. I would put them on the "beginner" level, around white belt, if it were a karate school.

More specifically, it answers the question, "If a boxer faced a wrestler, or a karate fighter fought a jujitsu fighter, and there were rules, and they had some body armor, and were enclosed in a cage with nobody else around, who would win?"

Yeah, what is the deal with the tats, lol? Do MMA fighters get a two-for-one deal?

i've been off and on with this for years...i liked it better though in the early days when it was truly "no holds bared"...there were like two rules, no groan kicks/punches and no eye gouging

some of the fighters actually get bonuses in their contracts if they finish their fights via knock out vs. submission...i think that's bunk

Years ago there were just two weight classes. I think it was 175 and under, and over 175. I remember watching a 180 lb guy fight a 400 lb guy........and won!!
