Hey y'all, any TN'ers can tell me a great place to stay the night in or around Chattanooga. Perhaps a B&B that's reasonable, or lodging that was particularly memorable for anyone?? My Italian parents are en route right now, I'd love to be able to call'em for a neat place to stay the night or 2.

Actually, call me 828-226-1794, time's slipping by for me to be playing with emails. I've googled and came up with only the same ole crap as everywhere else, and our podunk little library don't have TN travelers I guess. If you know something, hollar quick, thanx!

Chattanooga Choo Choo

http://www.choochoo.com/

Victorian Train Cars
Sleep aboard an authentic train car! Traveling across the nation by private railroad car was the height of luxury in the early 1900's. The railroading excitement of a bygone era is still present onboard one of our 48 Victorian train cars at the Chattanooga Choo Choo complex. Where else can you overnight in a beautifully restored Victorian train car? Only the very rich could afford a private car in 1900, but today the train cars are tastefully decorated and available for many of our guests. Although you may be reminded of a past era while staying aboard our rail cars, you will have all of today's conveniences. All traincars offer DSL internet access. Due to the metal construction of the traincars, the wireless signal is unable to transmit. Each car includes a queen size bed, and some cars also have a daybed with a pull out trundle bed. The only thing missing from your night in a Victorian Train Car is the "clickety-clack" of the rails!

When my family and I visited Chattanooga we stayed at the Staybridge Suites. It was fairly priced, had two rooms and a kitchen, an indoor pool, it was close to the bus route. We were satisfied with it.

Uao MarkO, bravo tuo Italiano. And ciao right back achya, been a little while ain't it? Hey Remember them cute little tins of maple syrup you got for me?? It's this couple they went to (well, except for one, my wife made the executive decision that one of them was going to be hers, hehe).

Thanx Ewker, I'll give'em a call at that choochoo place, I saw it in the line-up, and passed it up as too potentially tacky. Did you actually stay there tho?

I spoke with the ppl at the Stone Fort Inn, it seems nice, about $145 total, altho I ain't too thrilled with their limited parking being right next to a ghetto.

Whooee, more numerous unhappies at choochoo than at stonefortinn.

Hiway I'll have a lookee at your place, budget might be a good way to go anyhow (more dough for outlet malls and thrift stores, Italians love the bejeesus outa these type places!).

I chose the Staybridge Suites because I have a family of five and as much as a I love my kids, I love em more when they sleep in a different room.

It's been about 15 years since I stayed at Chattanooga Choo Choo, but I didn't find it to be "tacky" at all.

I would rate the accomodations in the same league with Union Station in Nashville.

Hello there chiliman! Been a dang good while since we chatted. I heard you moved, huh?

Mox, I thank we might be onta something now! Just chatted with Julie at that mayormansioninn, sounding really nice, roughly the same cost as choochoo and stonefortinn, with a what'd she call it?... a "3-course gourmet breakfast included". Only downside is a 1-mile walk to the riverfront, restaurants, and the free trolly circuit (if I had to pick a downside).

Aiight, mox your other choice, and then to hyway's suit.

That Staybridge Suits and mox's Sheraton Read Hotel costs about the same as the fancier Mayor Mansion place.

sorry to hear that hiway...................

I too have an empty suit. Just this morning we escorted Petunia, our dearest beloved 8 month old possum, to her new home. Her not being nocturnal, actually she's more or less like a backyard cat, she'll chew up one of our chickens sooner or later. The kids were late to school this morning so they could love on her one last time, and to see her new home. Rather touching.

I probably shouldn't have mentioned the Staybridge since you are just looking for a room. The Staybridge is a suite with two queen beds in a seperate bedroom, a roll out couch in a living room area and a kitchen area.

I was just joking about the suit (suite). My suit is dusty and shoved way back in the back of my closet. This is as close to wearing a suit that I do any more

Git along, lil' 'possum.

Ape, those tins were picked up at a diner in Vermont and it was my pleasure to do so. It was one of the greatest harebrained road trip/backpacking escapades that my son Henry and I ever embarked on.

I was late July, 2005, and we met up with Pedxing for a 35 mile trek on The Long Trail.
During the lead-up to this we only communicated by email.

We drove all night from Baltimore and dropped the car at Smuggler's Notch after breakfast at the diner.
From there we hitchhiked right to the spot where the trail crossed a highway and there was Ped, drying his stuff by the side of the road.
Its a good thing it worked because we were his food re-supply for the next seven days.

Sheeutfire, I just called Mamma' and they're in Nashville!!! Pulled a fast'un on me. Thought they'd check out Nashville first, and then head on down to Chattanooga.

Chili, you said something about some place being nice in Nashville didn't ya?
