Home safe and sound. My new puppy did very well. He managed to do 9.5 miles each day. he was on tired puppy. This was a very interesting trip. I'll let the trip leader post about it.

Well.......
I just got through talking with Crash and Attila.

Things went really bad fer one part of the group anyway!!!

At least nobody got hurt and they all made it out safely, but there were some serious navigational errors that ended up adding a few extra miles and a whole lot of stream crossings.
LOL
See ya later.

not trying to play the blame game, here. just trying to disabuse sc of the notion that it was "one of the boys" foolhardedly charging ahead

anyways, we started at the john litton farm trail, and took that to a campsite a few tenths before the jmt. after lunch, stokely led uplover, uncle b, and attila to the jmt. due to confusing signage, they took a wrong turn. i followed about a minute behind, then stopped to remove a layer and leave a message. by the time i got started again, they were way ahead of me. after about 3/4 of a mile, i realized i had gone the wrong way, and turned around and went back, figuring the others had made the correct turn at a place that i thought was a junction.

i eventually caught up with windi and coyote820 and his boy "otis", and we hiked forward and made camp at the planned campsite. the other group made camp about 6 miles south of us, thinking that WE were in the wrong place.

long story short, we found each other this morning, had lunch, and drove home. this is taking too long to type out, so if you want to hear the whole story, youll have to go on a trip with one of us, or someone else will have to write it up

Crash thanks for puttin the trip together. We got to see a cool Park. Perhaps it was randalls fault for that faulty route suggestion from the beginning! Ha ha just kidding randall ole boy!
Just a case of some hikers gettin ahead of themselves. Me included. But, of course the signage didnt freakin help in some places!
Its more than a boy thing now!

Hey UP can you post the pictures somewhere other than facebook, Im not on there now.

Home safe and sound. Call off the Park Rangers Uncle B is back in Indiana! I really enjoyed hiking with you all. There was deffinately a lot of character building on this one. Between the stream crossings, the two 1/2 mile straight up climgs today and the 20 mile speed demon hike on Saturday. This story is deffinately worth repeating. I'm sure we will all remember this one for a long time. So be sure and make one of Crash's next trips so he can tell the story. There was no come to Jesus on this one, but still it was very exciting none the less. Also, when hiking at the Big South Fork always read the signs from both directions to elimate confusion. I learned a new phrase this weekend MAP and COMPASS! All jokes aside Thanks to everyone for their help and assistance you all really made this trip very memorable for me. I look forward to our next trip.

did anyone take maps? There are quite a few horse trail that criss cross the hiking trails and if you aren't careful you will go the wrong way.

Yes we had maps and I used mine, lol. BSF does have many trails that cross each other. I bet if there had been more people with us there would have been more people who would have went the same way as those who took the wrong turn did. It was a easy mistake to make. At least we got out and did some backpacking. I'm happy that I got in a little over 19 miles in two days.
