Dog and AT
Planning on doing the 100 mile wilderness this summer and was wondering if dogs were allowed on this section of the AT, otherwise I would have to board him and that would cost a ton of money. Besides, my dog would keep me company. I don't want to risk it because I am Canadian.

Take a gun too, just in case. After all you are a canadian. Is the dog a canadian also, if so, take him too. I have heard that them make good canadian sauages. Now I don't know if dogs are allowed or not. :)

Dog's are allowed in the 100 mile wilderness, but not in Baxter State park - so you can't add Katahdin on to the trip without using a kennel.

I am Canadian meaning I wouldn't want to take a risk in a foreign country; I don't need the headache of getting into some sort of legal trouble. Anyways, thanks for the replies, I appreciate it.

No problem with the dog in the Wilderness, just keep it on a leash as there are lots of hikers out there, some with their own dogs, some who are afraid of dogs. Does your dog like to swim? There are lots of streams and lakes to play in.
