Gaiter Advice...View MessagesViewing posts 1 to 4 of 4 messages posted.
Sizing?? “Ok, gaiter disaster.. I bought OR Crocadile Gaiters online and assumed incorrectly that the sizing was based on clothing or pants... So I got XL... Way too big for my boots... And I'd accidentally bought two sets.. The first of which I sent back immediately.. and then had to pay to send yet another set back... $10 a pop... So I spoke with the salesperson this time at Altrec as my shoe size was overlapped by both medium (6-9) and large (8-11) and I wear a 9... They said if I was wearing regular hiking boots to get the medium as the large would fit big rubber boots. Just got the mediums in and they are quite snug around the calf.... while I could wear them, they feel like they would get uncomfortable in a lengthy hike. But I've also read that they should fit snuggly to keep out the snow,etc.. So if I don't pull it tight so the velcro running up the leg only overlaps 1/2 way, they don't feel too bad... but if I overlap the velcro completely, they are very snug. Is the velcro intended to overlap fully? Should I send them back (for a 3rd time) and get the large? Thanks, Javaslinger” 1:00:48 PM 2/04/10 “I would get the large and make them pay for shipping. you should be able to cinch up the gather at the knee.” 1:21:12 PM 2/04/10 “Biggest problem I have with gaiters is the calf size...XL fits the boot, but not my calf...and I haven't been able to find a gaiter of any manufactur thats any different...(Tried XXL as well...no luck)..” 1:47:14 PM 2/04/10 “Shipping cost is one of the reasons I am buying more and more llbean stuff with their card. Watch for deals, don't pay shipping for the purchase or when necessary, the return.” 3:26:18 PM 2/04/10
