Weekenders
Asking all weekender to post something here so we can see how many there are. This will help with shuttling. Also, you might want to make sure you have your water planned out. I'm not sure if there is going to be water on the part we are hiking. Check with Randall.

Me and Pug for sure....Sherie is a possibility though I doubt she will make it since she'd be driving alone--it's a long drive.

We'll arrive Friday night between 10-11:30 depending on when we can get on the road after work.

windi - I won't be able to go on this one, but just to let you know there is only enough room to park 2 cars comfortably, squeeze three, at Prang Pond. If you need the gps coordinates for that trailhead send me an email. It's not real easy to find.

Oh boy, let the fun begin!!
Windi,
I think ya might just wanna wait until everyone gets at the campsite on Friday night to get yer final count.
Thats not ta say that being a little procactive is a bad thing, cause its not.

This trip got way bigger than I ever thought it would, but that's a good thing and Yellowood is a good place fer a crowd, almost no rules at all!!!

Yeee HaaaaWW!!!!

And now it will raim like hell!!!
See ya later,

Hey all,

Gonna stash water at Scare o Fat Ridge for Saturday Night on Friday 3/26/2010!!!

After that water will not be a problem!!

Remember ya can water up at Schooner Creek two mile before that!!

Oh yeah, It's only gonna be me and Athena doing the stashing so we can't carry that much!!

Might need some voluteers!!

See ya later

Should I bring a filter for the water there, or would the steripen be okay? Cuz I don't think I have a clean filter for my pump...and I've mostly used the steripen lately but its been at fairly clean water sources.

Sorry, no steripen experience
Dub,
I have no idea which would work better. I use Aqua Mira and it never fails!
See ya later.

I'm a weekender. So we only need to really carry water for the day on Saturday? We will have a water source before camp that afternoon that we can camel up at, correct?

Usually I only carry the pen if things don't need filtered. Pens and drops don't really work for farming contaminants, really dirty water, lots of tanins, you know, that kind of stuff. Is the water where we are going going to be clear(ish) and moving?

Yes,clear(ish) and moving.

Thanks Randall!

I never really concern myself about the tannic stuff too much. Sure, it tastes like crap if it is not filtered, but add a few more drops of the hyper-killer chlorite good stuff and you can generally be assured of restful bowels.

Hey all,

The last thing I wanna have happen is someone saying I left out any important info so here goes my CYA!!

Officially camping is only allowed in Yellowwood State Forest at the designated campgrounds.

I will not be camping there on Saturday night, but somewhere that it is not allowed!!

If that bothers you then you can easily hike to the campgrounds in Yellowwood and pick up the Tecumseh trail at the north end of the lake to continue the rest of the hike as planned.

You really will not miss anything by doing that except camping with me, LOL.

See ya later,

Randall
