Noncon and I are taking a weeklong trip around Lake Superior later this summer. We plan to come ready for dayhikes, biking and paddling. I know we don't have a huge number of northerns on this site, but... For those of you with experience in this section of our continent, please tell us your favorite parks, trails, views, paddles, restaurants, lodging, and tourist trap. Please and thank you!!

I was thinking that perhaps you could take a boat over to IR from Thunderbay for a day thing; maybe land at McCargo Cove and explore a little?

That has been considered. It's too expensive to purchase the ferry tix for just a day...

it's a bit farther along, but you won't be regret the extra miles: http://www.ontarioparks.com/english/kill.html

"Considered one of Ontario Parks' crown jewels, this majestic, mountainous wilderness of sapphire lakes and jack pine ridges so captivated artists - including The Group of Seven's A.Y. Jackson - that they persuaded the Ontario government to make it a park. Once higher than the Rocky Mountains, La Cloche's white quartzite cliffs gleam like snowy peaks from afar. Where paddlers, hikers, skiers and snowshoers now journey through in this craggy, imposing landscape, there is evidence that others passed thousands of years before."

tb -- yes I am. But, based on the last experience and crew, I can't say for sure until we actually step off the Queen in Rock Harbor. Hopefully, we won't roll into Copper with another black cloud over the vehicle.

Killarney is 'way out of your proposed area, Tara. That being said, Johnnywalker says it's the only park that's worth âying an entrance fee.
