Base camp with no Hike in....(Brushy)...then day hike around the lake area..there is more to Sipsy than the Wilderness Area....Some could even bring Kayaks and canoes..(but it's a SMALL shallow lake).

topher and I have talked about it being time for another big trip. The drainage that parellels the road to Borden Creek was excellent. Not sure if that would make for a good TT trip or not because of parking, but there might some good exploring over in that neck of the woods.

Heck, chili has said it's time for another Footballapalooza. Maybe we kill two birds with this trip.

I'm tired of the base camp deal in the sipsey. Just think of what we could cover if we did some miles.

I'd like to do a creek/river walk, bisect or circle of a large area.

Do Both...

North of Brushy is a large circular Trails area with Hike/Horse trails...meet, set a base camp for day hikers..meet and greet ...Backpackers go hike and camp...dayhikers basecamp...meet back at Brushy for the final night...

Peeking my head out from under my rock

I may at least make it one night. I'm busy that time of year. I have a bear hunt planned in Maine and a elk hunt in Colorado. I ain't sure of the dates yet. I would like to at least come by and see everbody. I may feed Ya'll some of those wild hogs you will be seeing. ALA has been hunting them when he gets a chance. We have a couple of them in the freezer.

I don't have time to post much anymore. I do try to keep up with what everbody is doing from time to time. I just happened to log on today and noticed this thread. Ya'll know how busy I used to be, now I have ramped it up again. With both kids in college, I have more to do around the house. Logan is still at home as he is going local before going to Alabama. Meghan is out of Auburn and likes about a year at UAH. One of these days I will slow down, but right now I wouldn't have it any other way.

I think the reason that folks who've been to Sipsey a good bit are suggesting basecamp is that the best stuff is off trail and once you've hiked the few trails that are worth hiking, you've pretty well been there and done that.

As for me, I'll watch this one as it gets close. The kids fall break falls somewhere around this date and we're tentatively talking about a Smokies family campout.

Got the date for my bear hunting trip its sep 6 through 10 so looks like I'll at least get to come by. I'll check on some bear claws. They are normally hard to find. Most folks want them to go with their rugs.

Opie, I never left. I have just been waiting on somebody to suggest a BACKPACKING trip. Basecamps are nice, sometimes, but works keeps me from getting out much and when I do get to go, I like to stay in a different place each night. However, if nobody wants to backpack I can do the basecamp thing just to get to see everybody again.
Did I mention that as of Feb 22 I am now a Grandpa? Twin girls!!!!

I think this is the same weekend as the Masten trip.

If we punt on going to PA, then we will be Sipsey bound. It would be good to see Binks, Karo or Walkindude. I can't remember the last trip any of those three were on.
