If you are, you shouldn't read any further, for Cynthia Tucker this weekend claimed the voter anger that threatens the Democrat majorities in the House and the Senate is all a function of racism.

With the opening segment of the syndicated program "The Chris Matthews Show" focusing on the strong position the GOP has going into the midterm elections, Tucker said, "We haven't talked about the elephant in the room, and I don't mean the Republicans: race. Changing demographics. Fear of a white minority."

pointing out that you do nothing but instigate and never make a meaningful contribution is not a personal attack. but you already knew that







now, is this racism? well, there are 2 kinds of racism. the less commonly-used sense of the word is the one that spike lee infamously invoked when he said something along the lines of it is impossible for blacks in america to be racist. this sense of the word is where racism is an institutionalized and systematic means of oppression. things like slavery and jim crow laws as the most obvious examples. that doesnt apply here

what is the problem with that? it is a more detailed, in-depth possibility. is it not race baity enough? the mutts and stoves of this world have had it up to here with the al sharptons and jesse jacksons of the world, so instead of trying to have an insightful discusssion when the tables are turned, they resort to the same crappy tactics that they decry instead of having a topical but non-political discussion? can we just have one topical discussion without it being polarized right from the beginning? even the thread title is polarizng. jesus wept”

the people who favor those kinds of "special treatment" programs (hiring quotas, race-based scholarships, etc) use the rationale that because whites have a head start on blacks in this country due to slavery and jim crow, they should be given a hand up just to get back to equal footing. im not advocating that, just telling you what the rationale is. but, anyways that falls under the second kind of racism that i mentioned, if you think they cant make it on their own (because they are naturally dumber or less-skilled or whatever)

Obviously...but what makes you think they do not? From the way they picked targets of opportunity to beat, logically any asian looking person would have fit the bill, and so it's likely they don't discriminate, so to speak. There certainly is a lot of other anecdotal evidence to suggest that racial antipathy toward asians is a general trend in the black community. LA riots, for example.

I can most certainly call targeted hate racism. I have seen it in person. A phenomenon around here is for people to be racist against urban blacks in general, but treat the long-term local rural black families like anyone else. That does not mean they are not racist though!”
