I want to do this trail in august, over two week period. I live in santa cruz and can trail on the weekends. I am easy going and looking for adventure. Please let me know if you are interested!

Ia confused. Do you plan on hiking the entire JMT ( all 211 miles) in two weeks? Thats fifteen miles a day everyday with no layovers.

or

Do you mean you will be hiking on the JMT only on weekends or suggesting that you are available on weekends to do training hikes?

I only have two weeks off that I can take from work, so I would like to shoot for 15 miles per day, and take the lay overs if needed. I would like to do the whole thing, but I know that is not realistic, but I would like to make this my endurance trip of a lifetime.

I am setting aside weekends to train.

Good Luck. I'd love to join but 15 a day is too many for me as it doesn't give time to enjoy the view or dawdle. Plus I love to have a layover day to do laundry and relax.

The JMT is definitely on my list. I'm thinking this won't be the summer, however. Jerbear going makes it pretty tempting though.

I think 15 miles/day on the JMT could work for me. I averaged that on the Long Trail last year - even with time off, repositioning cars, etc... I hear miles come easier on the JMT than the LT.

Call me interested - but unlikely.

I wanna go, but not sure I want to do it with that short a time frame. I would have to add a few days. In the future for sure.

There is a 50 mile trail in Big South NRRA called John Muir Trail also...so there are three to choose from.

You could do a through in 3 days...

I meant which one IN East Tennessee? I knew about both of these trails and I have been on both in TN. Most people, esp. those referring to Cali., don't know there is more than one.

You are right. I didn't know there were more than one. I assume I am right about the one in CA as her location is Santa Cruz. Wait is there more than one Santa Cruz as well besides the ones in Mexico.
Even Googling John Muir Trail only the one in CA comes up until I add TN.

32 oz - are you still doing Alaska?

32oz, where does that put you mileage wise a day, with maybe a layover day or some easier days? I should look at my maps and figure how many days I could do it in. I've never been out that long since over 20 years ago, so not sure what I can do, that long. I did have a 20-22 mile day last Fall, but paid for it for a couple weeks. I guess I should not combine jogging with bping at my age.

Sandyann yes doing alaska..

Hiker Duane.. Looking at closer to 3 weeks.. Planning one extra day in case we cant get a permit first day... One Zero day, and one low milage day... I really havent look at itinary in awhile, i need to dig it out...

Have a wonderland trail trip all planned out too.. That one fell through in 2010 due to family illness.. looking to do that as well in 2012 or 2013... I had the dang permit appplication and everything filled out for that one.. crap...

What would you be looking for mileage wise

Three weeks would take all my vacation time. I could do some bigger mileage days, 10-14 would be doable. What 225-250 miles LYV to the Portal?
