anyone interested hiking the jmt with me? “I want to do this trail in august, over two week period. I live in santa cruz and can trail on the weekends. I am easy going and looking for adventure. Please let me know if you are interested! Contact Seaturtleclass@yahoo.com” 10:52:25 PM 3/01/11 “As long as we are doing the Trail in East Tennessee I am ok.” 4:22:49 AM 3/02/11 muddy “Which one is East Tennessee?” 6:10:41 AM 3/02/11 “Ia confused. Do you plan on hiking the entire JMT ( all 211 miles) in two weeks? Thats fifteen miles a day everyday with no layovers. or Do you mean you will be hiking on the JMT only on weekends or suggesting that you are available on weekends to do training hikes?” 6:48:37 AM 3/02/11 “the one along the hiwassee river, That starts in reliance tn, and goes towards etowah last edited: 3/02/11 7:18:50 AM” 7:17:49 AM 3/02/11 “I only have two weeks off that I can take from work, so I would like to shoot for 15 miles per day, and take the lay overs if needed. I would like to do the whole thing, but I know that is not realistic, but I would like to make this my endurance trip of a lifetime. I am setting aside weekends to train.” 8:09:50 AM 3/02/11 “I could do it. The last 2 weeks in july. Jerbear@netzero.com yo bear! I will be in yosemite july1-Aug 1 last edited: 3/02/11 9:01:35 AM” 8:56:39 AM 3/02/11 “Good Luck. I'd love to join but 15 a day is too many for me as it doesn't give time to enjoy the view or dawdle. Plus I love to have a layover day to do laundry and relax.” 9:29:54 AM 3/02/11 “The JMT is definitely on my list. I'm thinking this won't be the summer, however. Jerbear going makes it pretty tempting though. I think 15 miles/day on the JMT could work for me. I averaged that on the Long Trail last year - even with time off, repositioning cars, etc... I hear miles come easier on the JMT than the LT. Call me interested - but unlikely.” 9:49:20 AM 3/02/11 “I wanna go, but not sure I want to do it with that short a time frame. I would have to add a few days. In the future for sure.” 10:01:59 AM 3/02/11 “I have already done the Valley to Reds Meadow. Would like to do another section soon.” 10:15:57 AM 3/02/11 “s long as we are doing the Trail in East Tennessee I am ok.” muddy 4:22:49 AM 3/02/11 ignore this user report this message reason: I'll do it with you” 10:42:45 AM 3/02/11 “I'll do it with you tenjen 10:42:45 AM 3/02/11 ignore this user report this message reason: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ok when would be a good time for you, to do this.” 11:46:52 AM 3/02/11 “tomorrow” 2:00:58 PM 3/02/11 Muddy “There is a 50 mile trail in Big South NRRA called John Muir Trail also...so there are three to choose from. You could do a through in 3 days...” 2:33:07 PM 3/02/11 “Yep, I have been on that one already, and the one in Reliance too. So tenjen are you wanting to hike or something else ? :)” 2:42:02 PM 3/02/11 muddy “I meant which one IN East Tennessee? I knew about both of these trails and I have been on both in TN. Most people, esp. those referring to Cali., don't know there is more than one.” 5:19:53 PM 3/02/11 Karo “Ok, did I answer your question?” 5:38:07 PM 3/02/11 “You are right. I didn't know there were more than one. I assume I am right about the one in CA as her location is Santa Cruz. Wait is there more than one Santa Cruz as well besides the ones in Mexico. Even Googling John Muir Trail only the one in CA comes up until I add TN.” 6:03:12 PM 3/02/11 “Yep...found a Santa Cruz in AZ and NM” 6:52:50 PM 3/02/11 “I think I'm going to post a trip for the John Muir Trail in the Big South Fork.” 7:46:35 PM 3/02/11 “Hahaha! Watch a bunch of us want to join until we realize where it is at.” 8:09:22 PM 3/02/11 “I live In Santa cruz, ca! I just took off the 28th of july29- august 12th for the trip! Any takers, let me know! If not the trail, I am always looking for people who are interested in training on the weekends, or maybe some short weekend backpacking trips...” 8:10:58 PM 3/02/11 JMT in 2012 “I'm shooting for a JMT hike in 2012... Dont have everything firmed up yet, but i will post when I do... Planning one 17 days or so.... Lower mileage then i normally do but what the heck... '32oz” 8:23:20 PM 3/02/11 “32 oz - are you still doing Alaska?” 8:30:06 PM 3/02/11 “32oz, where does that put you mileage wise a day, with maybe a layover day or some easier days? I should look at my maps and figure how many days I could do it in. I've never been out that long since over 20 years ago, so not sure what I can do, that long. I did have a 20-22 mile day last Fall, but paid for it for a couple weeks. I guess I should not combine jogging with bping at my age.” 8:32:51 PM 3/02/11 “Sandyann yes doing alaska.. Hiker Duane.. Looking at closer to 3 weeks.. Planning one extra day in case we cant get a permit first day... One Zero day, and one low milage day... I really havent look at itinary in awhile, i need to dig it out... Have a wonderland trail trip all planned out too.. That one fell through in 2010 due to family illness.. looking to do that as well in 2012 or 2013... I had the dang permit appplication and everything filled out for that one.. crap... What would you be looking for mileage wise '32oz” 8:40:49 PM 3/02/11 “Three weeks would take all my vacation time. I could do some bigger mileage days, 10-14 would be doable. What 225-250 miles LYV to the Portal?” 5:42:55 AM 3/03/11 “211 from the start of the trail at Happy Isles last edited: 3/03/11 7:05:33 AM” 7:04:34 AM 3/03/11 “Piece of cake.” 7:58:11 AM 3/03/11
