“And the "cowboy" is a hooker.”
““Urban Cowboy is not a western. It is a drama where everyone wears cowboy boots...and stetsons."
I think the point was that only one dude wore cowboy boots and stetsons.”
“I saw True Grit in tv when I was a teenager. I loved it. There are two western with John Wayne I totally love. One is True Grit. The other one Wayne come to help his buddy Robert Mitchum, a drunkard Sheriff, to get sober and rid the town of a gang of bad cunmen. Don't remember the titel, but it's a fun story.
I saw the remake a few weeks ago and liked it too. Jeff bridges is a great choice for this role.”
“That's the one.”
“Isn't a Great Western Movie as absurd as a Great Broken Leg (Hollywood Lingo)?”
“I like Lonesome Dove ok. I'd probably love it if I hadn't read the book first. The book absolutely fantastic...probably in my top 5 if not top 3 of all books. I enjoyed the whole 4 book series, but Lonesome Dove is just fantastic. There is so much humor in it. As I said, I hadn't seen the movie, but I knew who the main two characters were. I think I was 15 pages in and knew who had to be who in the movie. I asked my mom since she'd seen and read it. "No, that's backwards, Duvall is Call and TLJ is Gus." I thought, hmmm, I just can't see that. I tried picturing the next few pages that way, just couldn't, and went back to Duvall as Guss and TLJ as Call. It fit and then I saw the movie. Boy, they really nailed the casting with those two.”
“On the Urban Cowboy issue, I rented it to see what the fuss was about. When it was over I was still trying to figure out what the fuss was. Wasn't it X-rated when it came out?
The Deer Slayer is another movie that I just had to ask wtf at the end.”
“oh yeah, urban cowboy was john travolta”
“Still, one of my absolute favourite is "The Last Of the Mohicans" (1992) with Daniel Day Lewis as Hawkey. Absolutly fantastic soundtrack. I still love to listen to it.”
“I love that movie...”
“don't waste your time on the blu-ray version of that movie - they screwed it up”
“Say, do you guys know the books of Karl May and the Karl May movies, made in the 60ies? I guess you don't have a clue who Winetou and Old Shatterhand are? Those were the iconic heros of our childhood and, in fact, that of our parents childhood too.”
“Last of the Mohicans is my all time favorite movie. I'd do anything in my power to stay alive for Hawkeye!”
“Hey that Hawkeye was on MASH too! I didn't know he was an Injun tho.
We did movie night last week with the original True Grit. My first introduction of the Duke to the kids.
I've never heard of Karl May stuff, and have just Wiki'd him. Which of these English titles are your favorites? I have a wicked long list of stuff for our movie nights queued up on NetFlix. thanx (cupla weeks ago we saw The Toxic Avenger, lmao)”
“Justified on FX great series !”
“for those interested, Target is having a sale on their Western Blu-Rays - $10 apiece. I'm not sure all of the titles they have, but I saw these yesterday:
For a Few Dollars more
A fistfull of Dollars

hell of a deal for a blu-ray...”
“One time when my son was here for the weekend, we tuned in to The Magnificent Seven one night.
I figured it was pretty much going to be lost on a 20 y/o. He went home and bought the DVD.”
“'Unforgiven' is Clint Eastwood's autobiography.”
“Outlaw Josey Wales
