Just came home on Parkway from Grandfather Mtn and saw a bunch of orange barrels. The service workers say they will have to close the whole parkway if the government shuts down.

Lovely. We were planning on using the BRP this weekend. Thanks for the heads up moonshine.

I am willing to bet that many places that aren't affected by the shut down will be under orders to shutdown anyway to make the shut down look much worse.

I would imagine politicians wouldn't mind as long as the other side would get the blame.

I read an article that said 3000 jobs would be affected if just the gsmnp shut down, let alone the brp. I wonder if they'll shut down 441 through the park.

They'll shut down all the nps, as if that will help their budget woes. The cherry festival will be shut down too.

Newfound Gap Road (U.S. 441) would remain open to through traffic only. No stopping or parking along the road or at trailheads & overlooks is permitted, & all restroom facilities would be closed, including those at Sugarlands Visitor Center near Gatlinburg, TN, the Oconaluftee Visitor Center near Cherokee, NC, & Newfound Gap. The Clingmans Dome Road which is accessed off Newfound Gap Road would be closed.
