Caney Creek 10/28-30
Hike two of the most scenic Wilderness trails in Arkansas in the Caney Creek Wilderness of west central Arkansas. Friday we'll hike in from the east side about 8 miles to camp at the last trail crossing of Caney Creek. Saturday we’ll enjoy the views from atop the ridge on the Buckeye Mountain Trail. Sunday we’ll hike out along the Buckeye Trail. We'll have 3 days to do some serious exploring of the Caney Creek Wilderness. This trip is rated moderate and would be suitable for beginners in good shape. The 3 day weekend will cover about 18 trail miles. Saturday includes an 800 foot uphill section.
Let's go backpacking!!

Hey TrailRelic, I met you on the Little Misouri Trail last Fall. We did the Caney Creek trail back in 2006. Camped at the Casotote and at Katy Falls. Wish I could join you. Maybe next time.
The Buckeye Mountain trail is an added treat. It adds a upland aspect to the more valley terrain of the Caney Creek. Road walking back to the trailhead makes it a semi loop.

Hey Bateaux,
It should be a good trip! We'll either car shuttle or hike that mile of road,we'll just have to see how it goes.
After talking to you on the trail last year I went back in March and did the Eagle Rock Loop in it's entirety. That is an Awesome trail!!

We've (Me and Buffalobabe)been talking about taking a hike in Oct. This might just fit the bill nicely.

I'm hoping to make a trip somewhere in the next few months. Likely more of the Pinhoti trail in Alabama.
Last Saturday I summited 14,060 foot Mount Bierstadt in Colorado. I was with a crew from the other side. I do trips with them but still consider myself a Trail Talker first. There aren't enough of us to be totally separate.

Strat,
You and Hillbilly need to do this trip. This is an awesome valley with the whole watershed in the wilderness.

I've always heard good things about the area. I'm trying to work out the timing, TR.

I think ole Hillbilly got domesticated and sold all his gear, though....

We might talk Chlli into heading down there....We'll need some top-shelf bourbon for bait...

Calling it bourbon is an insult! That was a 12 year old single malt scotch and yes there is more where that came from.

Well Relic, looks like we're tapped out man. I don't know if it's inflation or what but we just can't seem to get ahead. I'm really bummed , it'd be good to see you again. Hopefully we can get together soon
