Mt Elbert and Massive “Jeff after talking to you the other day about this trip, I've decided to try my best to make it. The 2007 trip that RoamAround put together was a blast. Unfortunately, even though I've made several Colorado trips since then, haven't been with anyone of the crew since. I hope you draw some interest in this trip.” 11:05:01 AM 11/14/11 “jeff - where are you in AL? I'm just east of Bham.” 12:00:03 PM 11/14/11 “Hey John. Saw the Cheaha family pics. Y'all look great. I think Jeff is in Birmingham. He moved to CO for a while but came back for work. You two should certainly hook up. Jeff, myself and another friend are two are planning some Pinhoti Trail from Cheaha north about 3 days worth as Colorado training. Ya interested?” 3:06:04 PM 11/14/11 “Probably, when are you going? Toph and I keep trying to get a Sipsey trip or two setup. We've been the past 3 Dec's in a row the weekend after the SECCG. I'm out this year, but hope to get another trip or two in over there this winter.” 4:54:16 AM 11/15/11 “I am just south of B'ham..in Clanton...I actually go to the Sipsey a lot...I was at Oak Mountain this past weekend trying to get back in the hiking phase...lol...Anytime youy may be interested in getting together let me know!” 5:21:14 PM 11/15/11 “Mark...you are right...I have been to Colorado several times and have done a couple of 14ner's. I have also been to New Mexico and done a couple of 13ners. I would love to get some of the old crew togther and maybe a few new people and head back out! I hope you can make it! It's going to be a blast!” 5:23:13 PM 11/15/11 at that time of the year “will this be a showshoe hike” 9:52:17 AM 11/16/11 “oldog, for the most part it will be! I remember one time in April We climbed Elbert and about the 13000ft range we had to take snowshoes off and replace with crampons. It basically comes down to how much snow is still left in April when we get there. I know we will be needing them for most of the hike tho... I hope that helps.” 10:36:01 AM 11/20/11 “i love elbert. the golden rocks at the top are stunning” 11:19:48 AM 11/20/11 “I have never been on Elbert in the Summer to see the rocks. Everytime I have made the summit, it has been covered with snow...lol...I am shooting for another trip to Colorado in August or September also, so maybe I can get up there without all that snow!” 12:27:20 PM 11/20/11 crash bang elbert summit thang 12:32:19 PM 11/20/11 “thanks for the link. That just makes me want to go out there more now! The only summit that I have made without snow is Holy Cross. It was a great hike and would love to do that one again! Are you still living in Indiana crash bang?” 12:52:36 PM 11/20/11 “still a hoosier” 1:00:58 PM 11/20/11 “ha...any good hiking up there? I have family in Farmland and Muncie. So I do come up there a good bit! I always stay in Anderson though.” 1:03:49 PM 11/20/11 “the trails are pretty meh once youve been on them a few times. it's still fun to get out with friends, tho” 1:04:52 PM 11/20/11 << back to Mt Elbert and Massive page
