Mountain Hardwear Customer Service

So I've owned a Mountain Hardwear Skyledge 2 tent for about 5 years now. It's been on just about every trip I've been on - subjected to terrible cold, awful heat, horrible storms, and everything in between. I love this tent.

Recently, both zippers on the tent itself started failing. First, they'd come undone on rare occasions - then more frequently. Now the teeth won't mesh at all. I figured this was the type of wear and tear that wouldn't be covered by a warranty and sadly started considering buying a new tent.

I figured I'd give Mountain Hardwear's customer service a try and to my surprise, they have offered to completely fix the tent, replacing both zippers, for only the cost of shipping to get it to them.

So I just wanted to say bravo.

I had an issue with a jacket zipper and they fixed it no questions asked.

Most of my Tents, Clothing are MH...I have had issues with gear failure with positive results. One was a Solitude backpack they no longer sell. Broken suspension harness...they wanted to buy this pack back after 5 years with many miles of use and give me exactly what I paid for it 5 years ago...I met the same customer service rep at Trail Days this past spring as he remembered me and give me a Family store code for 50 percent off everything they sold...hell...I ended up buying more gear and clothing than ever...

MH stands and backs up there gear...

Very Nice. I've got some MH jackets (one for warmth, two for stormy weather) - no need for customer service yet though.

MH stuff generally seems better made and slightly heavier than comparable products. Also, most folks buying their stuff probably don't use it like we do. It just makes good business sense to go above and beyond the call when it comes to repairs. They probably don't get that many request.

Good for you not just tossing something that has been good away, and good on them for going above the call and helping you get some more memories out of your tent. A win/win.

Yeah, I'm pleased as punch I'll be able to get some more life out of this. My expectation is that the rainfly will be the next thing to go... I wonder if they sell replacements.

I picked up a MH 1-man tent as well, for the solo outings. Again, not a single complaint.

I bought a MH Phantom (ultralight down) jacket, two years later I realized one of the panels on the back didn't have any down in it. No obvious holes so maybe it never had any fill. Called them up and they refilled it for free. Couldn't even tell where they opened it.
