so for the upcoming joshua tree trip, we've been assigned with desserts. I'd typically do something easy like a bag of cookies or brownies, but I have the desire to get a little creative. Except... I have no idea what to do.

So, any suggestions for an easy backpacking dessert? Either something we can pre-prepare and bring in, or something we can put together or cook on the spot...

I can't really help you, but your post made me think of some billboard advertising that has sprung up here in Canuckistan (Quebec, actually). They are for dessert flavoured bubble gum (apple pie, strawberry ice cream, et c.).

Just sayin'.

This would be a pan method, I make cornbread like this all the time..

This is cool too. Works better with a nesting pot or just put a couple rocks in your boiling pot to keep your second pot off the bottom. Makes great brownies! They come out sticky, warm and good!

Rosey, that's exactly what I was going to suggest. You can mix up the whole thing in a large ziploc bag. Just shake the heck out of it. Crumbled brownies are good too.

1camper - at Linville last year, nemster and I noticed your cute little adorable tiny fry pan. Ok, what we really noticed was the yummy cornbread you were cooking. Well, since then we each got our our cute little pans and have used them to cook up muffins and stuff at camp. We used the just add water muffin mix. Yummers!

Yeah the "one egg wonder" is a good $5 frying pan..it's thick aluminum, holds heat well but still not too heavy. I guess a gram weenie might cut the handle down some but I find it more useful with the handle on.

Ok. I know this is about dessert but I gotta know how you keep your brownies and cornbread from sticking to the 'one egg wonder' pan?

It's teflon, but a little butter or olive oil never hurt anything..
