DIY Alcohol Stoves -- Basic Design Considerations “A buddy and I have been tinkering with DIY (Do It Yourself) alcohol stoves on and off for the last couple of years. I thought I'd put together a blog post on what's come out of all the tinkering and testing. What follows isn't a "follow the steps and you'll get stove 'X'" template but rather some basic design considerations for making decent DIY alcohol stoves. At the end is a list of "standards" that you can benchmark your DIY stoves against. So, without further ado, I give you: DIY Alcohol Stoves -- Basic Design Considerations HJ Adventures in Stoving” 10:28:44 PM 12/14/11 “Good information. Thanks.” 6:23:20 AM 12/15/11 “I think back often to the time when I took one of my less successful alcohol stove attempts, and put white gas in it. ”6:34:28 AM 12/15/11 “I prefer thermite.....” 7:19:04 AM 12/15/11 “Thermite! I especially like the poetry section on the woodstove page.” 6:34:49 AM 12/16/11 “Yeah, Zen Stoves is a pretty amazing. How he ever had time to compile that I'll never know. My post is far more limited in scope: design tips for DIY'ers who want to build an alcohol stove out of aluminum cans.
