Kill it. No just because I'm against a new park, far from it...but at a time when we are talking Federal budget cuts in the hundreds of million of dollars, it would be like a citizen buying another new car when he can't afford the payments on the one he bought last month.......NPS will be part of those cuts, or certainly should be...if they have the money, then update the parks we already have.

Most of the lands being surveyed fall within the Monongahela and George Washington national forests in the eastern part of the state, while some currently lie within state parks.

I've always said they should make Dolly Sods a National Park to better protect it. WV is a poor state and with the death of Senator Byrd who funneled millions to the state, a funnel that's now gone, they will need outside help to preserve some of the beauty there.

On another note, my cabin is smack in the middle of the area they are talking about. Monongahela is all around me. Dolly Sods to the North, Spruce Knob can be seen from my mountain top to the East, Blackwater Falls/Canaan Vally to the NE. As long as they don't take my land...

Dang Dub, you're walkn the tightrope on this one. You might be a victom of your good intentions. Good luck, sincerely.

" Media in the state have reported that Sen. Manchin "would never support legislation that might curb hunting" and envisions the area as a national preserve, with hunting allowed, "but not as a full-fledged national park.""

How is this different from a national forest or a state park?
