“I always hear good things about the Eagle Cap Wilderness but never bee. I don't think there are any locals on this board these days.”

“Nice trails out by Maidu Lake near Mt Thielson. The PCT intersects the trail. Take 97 South from Bend towards Chemult. There is a turn off to a ten mile dirt road which was washboard. They may have paved it since I was there last. At the TH is a campground and lake. Use permethrine on your clothes and wear deet. Mosquitos are Huge and Hungry.”

Eagle Cap is great. The Alpine zone is low enough up there to still have some air. The Alpine Lakes area gets busy on weekends, but I found solitude in mid-week.”
