Outlet Sales
Does anyone know when the next patagonia outlet sale is. I'm especially interested in the main outlet. A lot of their stuff is amazing, but its really expensive, I wanna get some on the cheap.

RE: Patagonia
There is a Patagonia outlet store in Salt Lake City, and the prices are much better than other stores. There are also a lot of used Patagonia stuff on ebay. I'd also try local swap meets. I just got a nice Patagonia rain parka for my daughter, for $20 bucks!! Good luck.

RE: Patagonia
I was reading an article in an old Organic Gardening magazine and they mentioned the reason for the high prices on Patagonia clothing. Apparently, their claim is that they use only organically grown cotton and that makes a garment that will last a very long time.
(is this something you all know...and I just read? %]...)

RE: Patagonia
I've seen that in their catalog, but their pile stuff isn't cotton. It is made from recycled plastic though. Their parkas are nylon and their Goretex equivalent, so I don't know if any of it is from recylced stuff. They charge a high price because they can get away with it. Their mark is associated with quality products, so people will pay more for it.

RE: Patagonia
Thanks for the input, these are great suggestions.

Maybe I'll either drive out to the Maine Patagonia outlet, or call them and see if I can get on a sale notification list.

RE: Patagonia
ped, where in Maine is that outlet? My daughter just informed me that her father is packing for his move to Maine. Looks like I might be making a trip or two per year that way. I'm glad he's moving. I prefer Maine to Florida, snow baby that I am. :o) Maine is the only other state besides Michigan that has Thimbleberries.

Count Me In, I'll Go! Oh Outlet stores, Yep that Patagonia Clothing is expensive stuff. Even at an Outlet store the stuff will set you back some. But they make some freaking good gear.

Did you know that the word "darn" was not allowed passed the trail talk robot censor?

any body have the Nano puff synthetic or down jackets?

I have a Micro Puff Pullover (Polarguard Delta) but I dont use it much. I prefer the Mont-Bell UL Down Inner Jacket. I havent seen any clo ratings posted for the Nano Puff, but Primloft has a good clo rating for a synthetic and is low bulk. If I wanted to go back to a synthetic jacket, the Nano puff would be one of my top choices.

Here is the clo ratings for different insulation:

Polarguard 3D 0.63
Exceloft 0.68
Polarguard Delta 0.68
Climashield HL 0.68
Down (550 fill) 0.7
Primaloft Sport 0.74
Climashield Combat 0.79
Climashield XP 0.82
Primaloft One 0.84
Down (850+ fill) 2.53

For reference the the Micro Puff has a clo rating of 1.06 and the lighter UL Down Jacket is warmer with a clo rating of 1.78.

Primaloft is about as good as it gets for lightweight synthetic clothing like that. It does require a lot of stitching to keep it in place which is why the Nano Puff looks like it does, and why you do not see Primaloft used in sleeping bags. Please share how you like it when you get it.
