That depiction of "food" was a little suspect.

So Tea...this seems like a good idea, but all those vials they suggested to you to carry alcohol were too big?

Sounds heavy to me. Who wants to carry that much extra toilet paper soaked in water? I do not carry food that needs refrigiration in the warmer months.

That is corny!! What do you do with all that soggy tp? Throw it at people.

If I am taking perishable meat onto the trail it is normally frozen first and wrapped in foil and then plastic bags and then maybe some clothing apparel for insulation but is eaten asap when thawed.

This one time when a cooler was out of the question and weight was not that important I used a old ammo can. Place my steaks in there, wrap well of course, then filled it full of water and froze it solid . With its lid on the meat lasted about a week.

A good idea... that what we need, a good idea.

Frozen soggy toilet paper? That's go to be the silliest thing I ever heard.

They do make cooler sleeves, shaped to fit around beer cans and wine bottles, that you keep in the freezer and then take out and wrap around your beverage. I suppose you could use if for food or anything else just as easily. It will be lighter than a block of paper ice, have more capacity inside, and it will keep dry too.

But the best way to cool something when you're backpacking is to put it in the crick!

anyone ever slip their dish/bowl inside a produce bag, then your food never touches your dish, eliminating the need to wash it?

that is a remarkably simple yet fantastic idea

Well, having prescribed to the walkindude method, I eat my meal out of the plastic bag, thus negating the need to even have a bowl.

You know, if we resurected this thread or started a new one and asked folks to offer up their simple but trail-proven suggestions, it'd be a mess because of the "ignore" function.

It was a new toy (the ignore feature) and I was just playing with it. You may have noticed Flyguy6x has been around alittle more recently. Thats me without any "ignores."
