Whatcha doin' fer Prez Day Weekend?
Feb 17-19th(that Monday is Presidents Day)
Anybody got anything fun going on? Trips? BACKPACKING?!?

I somehow managed to have those few days off, but I just found out that my original plans are a no go. >sigh<

Anybody heading to the Cats or Dacks that weekend? Wanna?
Anyone? Anyone?

Well, don't mind me and my sorrow...
So, what are YOU doing for the holiday weekend?
:o)

This will be the first long weekend I have off in a long time, unfortunately I will be involved with the last two softball games of the winter season, which are part of end of season playoffs.....grrrrr....as much as I love it....I would rather be hiking and sleeping in the woods!!
I will have to enjoy any outdoor adventures vicariously when I read all about them here.....

Sure wish I were closer to the Cats or the Dacks. I spent a lot of time in the Adirondacks in my younger days.

The First Annual Monkey Memorial Hike,
Cohutta Wilderness, Georgia.

Belle and I are going to retrace the route that Monkey and I did last year. Monkey and I covered only about 10 miles, so Belle and I will have lots of time to sit around the camps and just "hang out".

Oh yeah,
I might re-try the "bushwhacking to Hickory Ridge" thing, but I'm hesitant to leave the trails in Cohutta anymore - especially after the trail closures of last summer because of increased bear encounters. There's mucho bears in them thar hills.

I'm not sure if I'll be here or not.
John and I are entertaining the idea of going back out to Saline Valley again.
More hot springs, beer and warm temperatures.
Keep me posted, though.
We might not get out there.

I just discovered this nice board. I mostly do weekend dayhikes in Hudson valley, from NJ to the Catskills. (Most Catskills trailheads are under 2 hours drive for me.) If anyone would like to join me
for Prez day or any weekend, please email.

Oh, you poor thing.
You are about to be swallowed by Trail Talk.

Well, worse things could happen to you.

Kleetns squirrel could ask you for a date.

We aren't supposed to tell them about the squirrel till they've been here a while.
Don't want to scare them off do we?

barlo, I think Tom Terrific's picture would be scarier than kleetn's squirrel, lol.

For President's day, I'm hoping for good weather for hiking somewhere, anywhere in Washington.

I may go XC skiing in the Pecos Wilderness or up Mt. Taylor. Problem is the only person who will do that stuff with me never stops talking.

hey buddur-boy! I've got one other definite "in" and two other maybes...
Looks like the catskills, fer sure. Votes are for North point/Escarpment Trail, Mink Hollow/Devil's Path, or Slide/Whittenburg. Let me know if your interested.

uhhh Hem...a nice board? Well, stick around for a while and see what ya think then. Welcome to ya. :o)

RE: Whatcha doin' fer Prez Day Weekend?
AmyG I'm definitly in for that weekend. I looked at both the Escarpment and Devil's Path trails, but couldn't find where the Slide/Whittenburg trail was. They all look awesome and, frankly, because I've never been to the area yet, any one of them would be fine with me.

As they all look like summit and range trails, I hope the snowment will provide water up there. I'm bringing Buddur, and have a feeling I'd have to carry LOTS of water if we were going in the summer.

Buddur-boy...

Look for slide mountain. The curtis ormsbee trail, circuit with slide/cornell/wittenburg peaks in the big indian/upper neversink region(southern cats).

Water won't be a problem. They've got lots of "snowment" up there. ;o)
Also, there are glacial lakes and mountain streams all over the region. I always plan around it.

I sent you an e. Let me know whassup!
