Unknown Boots? “A buddy of mine just gave me a pair of hiking boots that he used about 20 years ago for serious hiking in Colorado. I've never heard of them, and thought maybe you guys, and gals, might have. They all leather, dark brown, D-ring eylets, red laces, have the overlaping leather under the laces, heavey sole, markings are PMS by Stellina, and on the sole it says PMS by Palons? On the side of the boots it has a logo that has PMS and the M is done like a mountain, then it says made in Italy. They need some TLC, have to get some paint off of them and restore the Leather, but overall look like they might just work out. My buddys foot grew some. I tried them on a kicked'em around some. Thanks in advance.” 7:12:10 AM 2/05/01 RE: Unknown Boots? “PMS? =:O” 10:20:48 AM 2/05/01 RE: Unknown Boots? “Model: Sh!tkickerz Maker: Lil' Abner” 10:26:19 AM 2/05/01 RE: Unknown Boots? “In that period of time, boot makers in Italy made boots under a myriad of names. Probably made for an obscure US importer under that name. Usually Italian boots were good boots.” 12:06:14 PM 2/05/01 RE: Unknown Boots? “Thanks BS, I'll find out. They are in good shape, I'm going to do a lot of walking in them before I chance a backcountry trip on them.” 12:13:39 PM 2/05/01 RE: Unknown Boots? “Was there a Pacific Mountain Sports, as with EMS? I have a 20+ year-old pair of Italian boots that I grew out of, too. I'll have to dig them out and check their origins. All leather uppers and liners, very finely crafted and tough. Someone might get some use out of them.” 1:11:04 PM 2/05/01 Palons “the M formed by the mountain tops is their logo, the tre cime di Laverado - they are the three peaks of the central dolomites of northern italy. Palons are known for their sturdy leather construction and, while dated, are strong enough to stand up to new brands. With advances in technology, boots have obviously become lighter and more water repellant, but I still have the Palons I bought in Switzerland in 1959. They have logged nearly 10k miles and have had the soles rebuilt probably 6 times.” 9:36:24 PM 2/07/06 pms boots “I bought a pair of Italiam PMS boots in '82. I was a broke college student and they were half the cost of other fine Italian boots. I literally put a 1000 miles on them in all seasons with several re-soleing. They did not come with Vibrams but the origianl soles lasted a long time but the rubber was too hard for good traction. I just gave them to Goodwill. They were still OK but the new ones are sooooo much lighter.” 12:00:02 AM 5/02/07
