I SOLD MY SOUL TO THE MACHINE!
No actually I sold my 4X4 truck and now I only have my feet (and the metro) to carry me home.

I feel liberated!

I am no longer a direct cause of many of our societal problems that are based on the oil trade.

So I will leave you with the famous words of H.I.M Haile Selassie expressed so well by Bob Marley:

Until the philosophy which holds one race
Superior and another inferior
Is finally and permanently discredited and abandoned
Everywhere is war, me say war

That until there is no longer first class
And second class citizens of any nation
Until the colour of a man's skin
Is of no more significance than the colour of his eyes
Me say war

That until the basic human rights are equally
Guaranteed to all, without regard to race
Dis a war

That until that day
The dream of lasting peace, world citizenship
Rule of international morality
Will remain in but a fleeting illusion
To be pursued, but never attained
Now everywhere is war, war

And until the ignoble and unhappy regimes
That hold our brothers in Angola, in Mozambique,
South Africa sub-human bondage
Have been toppled, utterly destroyed
Well, everywhere is war, me say war

War in the east, war in the west
War up north, war down south
War, war, rumours of war

And until that day, the African continent
Will not know peace, we Africans will fight
We find it necessary and we know we shall win
As we are confident in the victory

Of good over evil, good over evil, good over evil
Good over evil, good over evil, good over evil

RE: I SOLD MY SOUL TO THE MACHINE!
Now Wild, there's not any petroleum-based outdoor gear hanging around the house is there? Or are you down to cotton canvas backpacks and tennies? No white gas or butane stoves? It's a tough jones to beat, but I wish you all the best in beating it. You've taken a bigger step than most are willing to do.

RE: I SOLD MY SOUL TO THE MACHINE!
Roseymonster, he's going to be an urban backpacker. Big cities have rugged walking conditions, big canyons, dangerous crossings, and not a few things that a can of Counter Assault! spray won't address. Plus you can use a shopping cart if all your gear is too much for your pack. Not to mention people might give you some spare change after you haven't washed for a few days. Try getting any cash out in some National Park. There it's always pay-pay-pay. He may be onto something.

Wild Child I admire you. I wish I could sell my cars. I live 20 miles from work and the pubic transportation in Michigan is almost non-existant (motor city mentality). The weather prohibits bike riding at least half of the year.

I like to watch PBS on Sun afternoons when this guy travels Europe by rail and bus. They have a very well planned system and everything meshes perfectly.

Are you talking about Rick Steves? Fun show, but he only goes to places rich people can afford. Railing around Europe ain't cheap either.

RE: I SOLD MY SOUL TO THE MACHINE!
I just heard on the news tonight that a man actually sold his soul on ebay. A woman bought it for $400. When ebay found out, they kicked the man off of ebay.

RE: I SOLD MY SOUL TO THE MACHINE!
It's going fine, I now live in the city instead of driving 3 hours a day. I now have much more time, and a clearer concience. I have also decided that surfing the net all day at work is not very good of me, and so I won't be on here much anymore.

Happy Trails!
