Big cities have rugged walking conditions, big canyons, dangerous crossings, and not a few things that a can of Counter Assault! spray won't address. Plus you can use a shopping cart if all your gear is too much for your pack. Not to mention people might give you some spare change after you haven't washed for a few days. Try getting any cash out in some National Park. There it's always pay-pay-pay. He may be onto something.”

“Wild Child I admire you. I wish I could sell my cars. I live 20 miles from work and the pubic transportation in Michigan is almost non-existant (motor city mentality). The weather prohibits bike riding at least half of the year.

I like to watch PBS on Sun afternoons when this guy travels Europe by rail and bus. They have a very well planned system and everything meshes perfectly.”

“Are you talking about Rick Steves? Fun show, but he only goes to places rich people can afford. Railing around Europe ain't cheap either.”
