pfffft... my short WB 2 door Tahoe will kick all your puny girly Xterra's asses ;) And the locked rear end (from the factory) makes the tires squeal when you are making slow tight turns in the parking lot. ;) Oh... I guess that locked rear end makes it a monster offroad. 255hp + 330 fl-lbs of torque and I get 17mpg. No replacement for displacement ;)

My Xterra has 265hp + it is not a Chevy.

You know, my Range Rover is the most well traveled vehicle on earth. Says so on all the ads.

The shorter wheelbase of the range rover & jeep make them MUCH more versatile than the others. Range Rovers spend more time in the shop than all the others combined. My jeep (wrangler)has left my Xterra in the dust & easily out-maneuvered HUGE hummers in the woods. It goes for Tahoe’s as they are just 2 big.

I own a 2005 Gas Guzzling Dodge Durango 4x4 and proud of it.

The short wheelbase is definitely an advantage. I just can't live with lack of cargo space in the Jeep. Going from an extended cab full size pick up to an Xterra has been a huge change in wheel base and turning radius.

I have never been a 4x4 mudder. I just wanted something that handled better in the woods and had what I needed on pavement.

Xterra
My dad works for a repo yard and I've driven several Xterras. They always seemed kinda cheap and flimsy to me. How are they? How do they handle offroad.

If you don't mind kicking in the gas money I've had a Durango for 3 years and never had a problem, its a beast offroad and it can practically pull a house behind it.

Just personal experience but I've never had a Dodge of any variety that stood up to anything in the long haul. The only exception would be that '69 Dodge Charger...I totaled it before it had a chance.

Dodge made an inferior product until the mid 90's. They've since joined with Mercedes and other companies to produce good vehicles. The 4.7L engine that was in my dakota and now in my Durango, is a Mercedes engine. Dodge has come a long way in the last ten years and I've had no problem with them whatsoever. I've owned 5 Dodge vehicles in the last ten years and they were all very good rides with very little problems. There are better quality vehicles out there though, but I've been buying Dodges because I get a good discount. Otherwise, I'd be shopping at other dealerships.

Cheap and flimsy can define most vehicles today, I guess since they are trying to reduce weight to get fuel economy. I read by 2007 or 2008 they are supposed to come out with new CAFE gas mileage standards so that will only make cars and trucks even lighter. The way things are going they might as well start using cardboard to make cars.

They are also supposed to start making trucks and SUVs lower to the ground, due to the fact that a lot of collisions between SUVs and passenger cars result in the SUV going right over the top of the car.

That won't be good for driving off road if that happens. Pick ups and vans are pretty high too, I suppose so you can load them up without them scraping the ground. I wonder if they'll push to lower them.

My 05 xterra is one half inch lower than the 04 and a little longer wheelbase. The improvement in room and horsepower made up the difference for me.

Isn't the Xterra supposed to be for a much YOUNGER crowd?

Mid-life crisis anyone?

Declare victory and get out, it's the only chance you have -- sort of like your marriage.

See, some people are has-beens, but you're a never was and that's what's making you so bitter.

When are you planning on starting a family? You have been married for a long time.

Why are you so interested in my offspring? You have your late-middle-aged life to lead.

I know it makes you sad that no woman will look at you without chortling these days, but don't take it out on me.

Bacpac are you the first in your family born without a tail, or what?

It IS possible to plan a family, and have children deliberately, rather than the accident that caused you.

Great cross court coverage by mr Phaedrus, sucessive backhands by mr bbw are keeping him in the game. This folks, is what we come to expect from these wimbledon champs.

Phaedrus serves into the net. I am the third of six children, hardly an accident.

You see my family has no problem with pro-creation. We can be thankful that your lack of spunk spells doom for your gene pool.

That's funny bacpac, I heard your brother was an only child. Whatever, your parents didn't deserve you. You should apologize to them.
