“Medic Girl the first day (Jan 20) I hiked and camped by myself at site 18, but the next day I hiked with a couple from Marysville who showed me White Oak Sink, off the main trails. I went on very short notice when the weather reports said a big snowstorm was gonna hit the southern Appalachians. It didn't snow as much as they were forecasting, but for someone from Louisiana where it almost never snows it was a real treat. I even noticed that snowflakes actually
have the classic "snowflake" patterns they're supposed to have if you look at them when they're fresh on the ground before they get all crushed together. Wow. I luv sno.”

“Thanks for the great pics, steve! The only time I've visited the SMokies was last May and we had an all night thunderstorm that forced us to evacuate our campground near the Lil River, which was only a creek when we arrived but definitely a river when we left! We ventured over to the Fontana Dam area which was beautiful. Have you ever been there and, if so , have pics from that area? Would love to see some.”

Only bad part about my trip is it was years ago before I knew much about backpacking, and I had an old Korean War Army backpack, and my friend carried a navy C Bag over his shoulder. ”
