JoBelle's Excellent Cohutta Adventure!
Day One, 8 miles
I hope to get an early start tomorrow, 2/17. My plan is to hike from Three Forks Mountain to the Jacks River via Rough Ridge Trail. We will camp adjacent to the river somewhere around the Hickory Ridge and Beech Bottom Trails where they intersect with Jacks River Trail. I've not been to that particular location, but the topo hints at flatness, so I'm sure there will be ample campsites. My shoes will get wet upon reaching the river, and stay that way for the remainder of the weekend.

Day Two, 10 miles
Saturday, we will hike Rice Camp Trail to Hickory Creek Trail to the Conasauga River, where we'll camp.

Day three, 5 miles
Sunday, we'll take the grueling climb to Cowpen Mountain via Panther Creek Trail. It's at this time that I will be DAMNED GLAD I'm not packing a spare pair of wet sneakers. We'll then be on East Cowpen Trail, and only a mile or so from the truck. Enroute up Panther, we may or may not bushwhack to Panther Bluff, which is situated 1/2 mi. N of the trail, about midway up the mountain.

Y'all come, ya heah?

Sounds like a fun weekend! I'm familiar with some of that area but not all of it. Will your route take you by Jacks River Falls? That's a very nice area with loads of camp sites.

Yeah! Gojo Your Right, the flatness your talking about is bray field right on the conansuga river, real nice area for a good nights sleep. that hike up to panther creek and above to penitentary branch, is a bitch, but tearbritches is even worse.
