New Outdoor Club in Atlanta, Ga
Wow, it has been a long time since I have been on this board...

Anyone NEAR or IN the Atlanta, Ga area - There is a new organization about 30 members strong and growing quickly.

"AtlantaOutdoorClub.com"

This is a club for those interested in outdoor activities in the Atlanta, GA area (packing, hiking, camping, walking, biking, etc.).

Because this is a fledgling club - membership for now is free. Sign up for a membership and get on the distrobution list for planned hikes, etc that are coming up in spring.

The next meeting will be on March 13th, see website for details.

All skill levels welcome - more experienced hiker/packers welcome to help show some of us "Newbies" the ropes. (Eyeballs Radagast - Remember me man? You taught me enough to do my first hike).

Take a Look!

Yeah - Almost had to get extracted fom 3 miles into the Grand Canyon cause I was an idiot. Whatever you do - don't ever let a less experienced hiker push you into something that you view as dangerous. I was a schmuck, my "your an idiot" light was going off but I did it anyway.

Anyway - terrain out west is beautiful. Grand Canyon, Painted Forest, Cliff Dwellings - WOW!

You been on the AT lately? Blood Mountain?

The gigantic pooch-screw, herebye known as the "Grand Canyon SNAFU" will never be told - I'll take it to my grave I tell you!

Gojo-Remember that the group is only 2 months old and essentially still trying to get it bearings, and for a while will be catering to novices to get an interest going. Keep checking back, you may find a hike that interests you.

Rad -
Unfortunately I have hiked very few trails in the past 4-5 months. Because my asthma is affected by the cold, I really have to shut down for the wintertime when my Asthma is the worst.

I am soooooo jonesin' for spring to get here - I have had the hiking itch for about a month now. I am just waiting till it warms up consistantly by a few more degrees.

Hey - Have you ever hiked Panther Creek Falls?

Panther Creek Falls in Cohutta?
It's a pretty gnarly climb - about 2000 ft gain in two or three miles, much of which is in proximity to the falls. Boulder scramblin' and hopping required.

I think there is another trail by that name over toward the Carolinas - not sure tho.
