As Seen On TV
I use my TV as my morning alarm. There's a Christian network called Daystar. It's channel 53 (UHF) in Atlanta. In the early morning, they play "music videos". Their not videos in the traditional sense, but rather, music played with an accompanying video - usually of backcountry scenes. I have seen scenery from some of the locales in which I've backpacked, ie, Bryce Canyon, Tetons, and The Black Hills.

One morning a couple weeks ago, I'm looking at a scene from Bryce, and looking at an 8x10 enlargement of the same location that hangs on my wall above the TV. That was pretty cool.

I didn't watch this morning, but yesterday, they showed scenes from Texas (Big Bend NP?), Colorado (RMNP?), Oregon coast (2!), Arkansas (countryside), Canadian Rockies (I would have guessed Alaska), and others. The location of the shoot is identified near the end of the song.

It's most enjoyable to sit sipping my coffee while "hiking vicariously". Check it out!

Dude -
I'm not much of a Christian music fan myself. However, I find it to be a nice, soft sound to wake up to. Heck, turn the volume low.

I was really impressed by one particular video. It was of Victoria, Canada. Man! AWESOME mountain range!

... I could almost smell the Wind River's, Tetons, and Sawtooths.

Yeah well you know the differnce between Homeless people (Urban Outdoorsman) and the characthers from Brokeback Mountain?

The Homeless has no friends.

The Charachters have friends up the ass.

CQ TODAY MIDDAY UPDATE
Jan. 23, 2009 – 1:05 p.m.

Rockefeller’s Rewrite of Digital TV Bill May Satisfy Republicans

Senators seem to be nearing a compromise on delaying the Feb. 17 nationwide transition to digital television by four months.

Republicans on the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee on Friday were considering a new version of a draft bill written by the panel’s chairman, John D. Rockefeller IV , D-W.Va. The rewrite incorporates several provisions that address Republicans’ concerns, said ranking GOP member Kay Bailey Hutchison of Texas.

The new draft would extend the transition date to June 12. The legislation would allow:

• Television stations to shut down their analog feeds before June 12 to transmit only in digital, with approval of the Federal Communications Commission.

• Consumers with expired government vouchers for digital-to-analog converter boxes to apply for replacement vouchers.

• Public safety users to tap analog spectrum as soon as it is vacated, rather than making first responders wait until June.

There's a local chef on tv here whose on daily and speaks in a rather sing-songy voice. It drives HPM up the freakin' wall. I tend to check his recipes online anymore, but I always read them in his voice. Sometimes, If I want to irritate HPM, I'll rad them out loud.
