You cannot use a prong collor, when the dog is running over the next hill, chasing a deer, when he should be interested in the boar, or bear. Nor can you call the dog back, when he is that far out, but when the dog hears the beeper, or the feels the pulse, it makes a difference. And you hear the highway, or train. Unless you have, and understand how to use one, you will never.

mudhole. I did not dismiss the shock collar. I am not a hunter. I do not train my dogs for that kind of activity. _I_ would not use a shock collar. I did not say they should never be used. :?)

muddy, i know she's a diffrent dog.

I grew up with hunting dogs and so did mike. Like i said shes pretty good on a leesh, and I know with lots of walks she will even get better. For the most part she heels right along side when I take her out and she's great inside the house too, very well mannered for being just a year old. Loves people, especially kids and doesnt get all jumpy. Now when she hears a dog or sees one, she gets very excitable and wants to play, even when on leesh. She's a good dog with a lot of potential :)
