Budder, got your pics today. I'm going to try your large hole method on my Turbo V8. The RedBull cans look EXACTLY like my V8 cans.

Le Subtil try making a V8 can using these instruction: Turbo V8 stove

I gaurantee it will boil on .75 fluid ounces of alcohol, and it will hold 2 times that much.

I used a Pepsi can stove for the first time in the field this last weekend and it worked great. The only problem I had was that I built my stove with a marine grade epoxy called PC-11. I've used it dozens of times before with no problems, but this time the portion I used to seal the inner sleve to the top of the stove burnt off. Regardless, the stove kept working.

Splash, Yes, I use my normal set up and just place the sleeve over the burner. The correct height will be just a hair higher than the burner itself. Slide the lid over the top of the sleeve as the stove is burning since you only want to expose a few holes to simmer. If you put the lid completely on you'll snuff the flame out. The sleeve has no holes in it.

OK what gives??
Hey all you stove makers. I've made a couple of these now and can't get the fuel to turn to vapor.

Tried lots of little hole, less but larger holes. Just looks like a Wisperlite before it heats up. Lots of yellow flames
Sealed the thing with JB weld. Made small notches in the inner ring to let fuel flow better.
Using fuel line Anti-Free (Heet) not Denatured Alcohol. Is that it?

Thing sucks the fuel as well. Sure not like the .75 oz. burning for 26 minutes I've read about.

Few more tries and it's back to the Snow Peak for me.

were you using the yellow bottle Heet or the other type? In any case try some denatured before you give up. As for the holes - use Buddur's technique - 8-10 knife slits instead of round holes.

Anyone have any bright ideas for a pot stand other than coat hanger bent thing.

0.75ozIsAButtloadOfFuel NoWonderIt'llBurnFor26min
Poke the burner holes/slits on the side of the burner just below the upper lip, and not on the lip as shown on many websites. And forget the JBweld and muffler tape, etc. If you cut the bottom end with scissors and the upper portion with a sharp pocketknife, the cut turns out such that the upper will fit into the bottom snuggly...most of the time.

Don't give up on a coathanger potstand cause they can be more trickier to make than a burner. Cut and straighten out a coathanger. Place a ruler so >=3" hangs over the side of a table corner and use that to measure the distance between the bends. Bend the coathanger to a zig-zag having 6 corner (3 peaks/points where the pot will touch it), and cut off the excess. Then you gotta use your hands to bend it into a circle. This is the tricky part and you'll find it out when you do it. When you finally make a good one, you won't find a better potstand.

Thanks guys. Will try the ideas mentioned. I did notice that the "Heet" brand burned cleaner (no black soot) compared to the Napa brand.
Well back to the recycle bin at work for more supplies.
I made the mesh type pot stand. Seems real stable.

My pot stand is just a piece of 3" x X" chicken wire shaped into a circle. Works good for me but might collaspe with more one than a quart of fluid in the pot.

I tried the coat hanger way and nearly poked my eye out!

Have a look at this guy's stove design. I hear that some people are having great success with it.

Photon vs slits
I've made both the photon and the slits (thanks again Buddur) and prefer the slits. The photon is like trying to assemble a car engine and get all the parts together right, including getting all the tools you will need.

The plain old soda can stove is great - especially if you use Buddur's sysem of slit. I can whip one out in a minute and be cooking on it. I have pictures, plans, etc. on my site.

I have just received my 1st pepsi can stove (compliments of Tin Can Stove Man) and I bought some Heet in the yellow bottle. I was reading the Heet bottle directions and it says "Do Not Reseal Bottle"
Just wondering do you reseal it or put the fuel in another container.
While I was at Autozone I asked one of the employees there about resealing the container and told him what I was doing with it. The look I got from him was hilarious.
I think I will go home tonight and fire mine up and make a pot stand.

Get a soda bottle
The good old disposable soda bottle will last forever - well maybe not, but I still have mine after months of abuse. The cap makes the perfect measure because each cap is 1/4 ounces, and I useually use 2 to 3 caps full for my stoves.

Which HEET?
Another fuel question - I rcvd my pepsi can stove from TCSM today. I went out and bought a plastic bottle of HEET from a Track Auto. Now I am a little confused about the fuel. It is a red bottle (they didn't have yellow one) and the name printed on the bottle is "Iso-HEET." It also says it contains ISOPROPHYL ALCOHOL but it is for "Premium Water Remover & Fuel System Antifreeze." Will it work? Did I get a wrong type of fuel? I am anxious to try the stove.

I either read it on here or in the instructions the TCSM sent that the ISO-Heet prodces some soot on the pot.

Yellow
The red bottle sucks, get the yellow. Iso stuff isn't as efficient. You want denatured from the paint thinner section or yellow Heet that is usually near the auto service department.

YallAreObviouslyHavingBetterLuckWithWireMeshThanMe
I started with the wire mesh but gave up on it because it kept giving up on me. The mesh was in ~1cm squares, woven-like with soldering where the horizontal and vertical wires would meet. I had a bunch of it and would cut a 2.5" tall strip that would roll up and fit inside the burner for starage, take it out unroll it into a circle to make a potstand. The problem is the solder kept melting off and in a short time the mesh looses its integrity and won't hold weight. This kept happening, so I moved on to try a coathanger which so far has lasted much longer than the mesh I was using.

Testing Testing Testing
Made another stove with the slits. How many and how big should they be for optimum flow?

I bought Two bottles of gasline anti-freeze. One was the "Heet" brand, and the other was Napa. I used the Heet first, what a #&%!$ re=closing that thing. It burned great with the stove TCSM sent me.
Then I mixed the two brands of Alcohol together in a plastic soda bottle. Used this mixture in a stove I made, and started having the Yellow flame problems with lots of black soot and no vaporizing.
Will get more "Heet" and try again.
This all sounded so simple in the begining.
