Lytle Creek Trail
Me and my girlfriend's son are going to carve out a small trail that will run along the creek behind the house. It won't be very long but he's 12 years old and fired up about the project. He and one of his friends started knocking down sticker bushes over the weekend and now I've volunteered (been drafted) to help. We'll take pictures as it comes along.
Not sure just how long it will be total. We gotta do some bushwackin to see what we can get away with.

That's cool. Me and my boy built one back through our woods and along the creek. He was 12 at that time also. Good times.

RE: Lytle Creek Trail
Are "sticker" bushes the same as Mick Jagger bushes?

Sounds like fun. Hope to someday do that with my kid...if I had one. My dog is my kid!

RE: Lytle Creek Trail
And I thought this thread was about the Lytle Creek Trail near Los Angeles. It leads up into the Cucamonga Wilderness. Our Scout troop hiked on it about two years ago and their backpacks got ripped open by bears during the night.

RE: Lytle Creek Trail
We don't have any official trails built, but me and my nieces and nephews "hike" around my parent's farm. We've named various spots after places in Baxter State Park and made up some of our own names as well. I bought them BSP hats and patches and they play ranger and guide their friends to the different places. It's a lot of fun.

RE: Lytle Creek Trail
Today Jason scetched the creek & Trail we got so far and I cleared the path better with a bow saw and hedge clippers. So far it's about 300 feet long. We got a little clearing to go across and then back in the woods. Tommorrow we hope to have about another 150 feet done. That's including the clearing. We got LOTS of sticker bushes to go through!
