New compass aid
Here's a new toy for all you gear ho's.
It's a new map and compass accessory, the Sierra Map Aide, that corrects for local magnetic declination.

www.mapaide.com.

You'll have to take this out for a test drive and see how it does for you.

You can make these yerself if'n ya had some transparent mylar, a protractor, straightedge and fine-point sharpie. They are for those who don't have a declinating adjustment on their compass, or just haven't adjusted for it. Orient the map with compass to north (magnetic north), lay the transparency on the map side edges aligned north/south, and the transparency declination angles indicate direction of true north. From there you can shoot an accurate bearing and GO!
