The recent update was to a 2001 Ford Ranger XLT step-side short-box pickup w/5-speed stick. Still looking for a cap. But it has the essential modern pickup components: AC, CD player and cruise control, LOL.

Nope, no tatoo but I did tell my wife I was going to get a set of them gynocological cruising pegs and a pair of leather chaps. She watches me take off on my scooter and just laughs and laughs.

The box on the back holds about 1,000 c.i. and I'm contemplating throwing a day pack on the back and riding up to the islands of Lake Erie for a weekend trip this summer. Vroom vroom!

BTW Nigal, I forgot to compliment you on your scoot. Nice ride. I wish the weather here in 'da nort country' would make it practical to get one. Don't take any crap from anyone. It's veddy, veddy continental.

I still have a 1972 Yamaha 200cc street bike I bought back when I was in high school. It only has about 4,500 miles on it and mostly just sits under a tarp in the shed. I'll have to get it fired up this spring.

Anyone have a Vespa?

I ride a Vespa. 1978 P 125 w/ upgrade to a 177 aluminum, nikasil barrel, race pipe, cut crank, front disc, etc.

Such a blast for city riding. It'll do about 65 mph. In Cali, you can split lanes. Traffic? What's that? Parking is everywhere.

Male-menopause/second-childhood/empty-nester 2 002 Jeep Wrangler TJ named Tonka. Big-@ss wheels, 4 cylinder standard with a #&%!$in' CD player and seven speakers, one in each corner and two tweeters and a subwoofer in the roll bar. When I crank up CCR, ears bleed.

My first childhood was the pits - this one's gonna be fun. 'Nuff said (other than that, Sgt Rock wins).

Happy trails.

I drive an '87 chevy nova -- that's what i can afford.

Most transportation around town is by bike, even in winter, i hardly drive at all.

Winter transportation, mostly for recreation, '94 Polaris Indy 440.

And for most of my summer, either canoe or hiking, no cars necessary, along with a few winter trips and trips throughout the school year.

Aero, I have a friend who drives the Outback. His only complaint is th4-cylinder engine. He wishes he had the 6-banger.

I drive trucks, cars, whatever gets me there. I have love for only one vehicle I have own. When I graduated High School Iwas lucky enough to purchase a 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T with a 426 Hemi. It came with dual quad. Which I changed out for a six pack. I added a new cam. And it flew. (of course in 75 gas was cheaper) When I was married my soon to be wife persuaded me to sell it.. UGH!
I sold it to my brother who promised not to seel it to anyone. If he wanted to get rid of it, he would sell it back to me. Somehow he sold it to some kid. Who totaled it out on a tree. The guy was ok. But the car was trashed. I went looking around for another lately. Just to check on the prices. And found a 1970 R/T with a 383 magnum for 45K.... GEEZ! No wonder I wander the mountain ranges... LOL

So that's what a Unimog looks like.

The one thing that I like about this thread as I look back over it is the number of people that drive older cars just like me. I love new cars but there is some satisfaction in maintaining and driving an older car. Sort of a shabby chic kind of thing. And to tell the true, I just don't want to put myself in debt for six years just to afford that quad-cab GMC 1500HD P/U I drool over. The damn thing cost twice what my father paid for his house way back when!

I'm with you on that, Sol. My partner and I started to get the bug for fancy new trucks when we started to taste success. So we went out and priced the kind of trucks we would like to be driving. Then we tracked the cost of our trucks in maintenance costs against the payments on new trucks. Hands down, it is more economical to drive a dependable older truck. However, you get a big tax incentive to buy new with depreciation and equipment costs. I'm sticking with my truck for a few more years. I just wish I knew when to sell it.

Me, I hope to buy a lincon LS when I am of age, however I'm about 30k to short. I guess I should get a job and invest all my money. After all the stock market is on the up.
