The Wall
I'm woven in a fantasy, I can't believe the things I see
The path that I have chosen now has led me to a wall
And with each passing day I feel a little
more like something dear was lost
It rises now before me, a dark and silent barrier between,
All I am, and all that I would ever want be
It's just a travesty, towering, marking
off the boundaries my spirit would erase

To pass beyond is what I seek, I fear that I may be too weak
And those are few who've seen it through to glimpse the other side,
The promised land is waiting like a maiden that is soon to be a bride
The moment is a masterpiece, the weight of indecision's in the air
It's standing there, the symbol and the sum of all that's me
It's just a travesty, towering, blocking out the light and blinding me
I want to see

Gold and diamonds cast a spell, it's not for me I know it well
The treasures that I seek are waiting on the other side
There's more that I can measure in the treasure of the love that I can find
And though it's always been with me, I must tear down the Wall and let it be
All I am, and all that I was ever meant to be, in harmony
Shining true and smiling back at all who wait to cross
THERE IS NO LOSS

If you don't eat your meat...you can't have any pudding!

How can you have any pudding if you don't eat your meat?

RE: The Wall
LS, thanks for the poem. My first thought was "Beyond the Wall" by Ed Abbey..one of my favorite books. Then again, it made me think about the grass being greener on the other side of the fence, I mean, wall....

RE: The Wall
Darkness is a wall, for those that fear what they can`t see
it causes them to fear the unknown and give credit to what might be
in the dark shadows, that mesh and blend
that change shapes as they stretch and bend
they become a prisoner to the light and can`t break free
because they fear the things of the night that they can`t see
but there`s nothing to rip your insides as fast as fear can do
to ever climb your wall of fear, you must be in control of you
and with every step you take it takes you further from the light
and before you know it, you will become a creature of the night
and no longer held back because of your week eyes and ears
you will learn to take on life as you confront your darkest fears

RE: The Wall
It`s a wall to some, that I call fear
to scale the sides, but never clear
and I don`t let it get the best of me, or throw a fit
instead I try to learn something and make the most of it
though it has slowed me down some, I can`t stop
till I beat the things that keep me off the top
and I may even have to back up some at times, but I`ll never stall
until I tear down the things that keep me on this side of the wall
