My opinion thread
Stevie Ray Vaughan was the jamminest man ever.
Beer is great. (stoudts, porters, bitters, brown ales, etc.)
Wine is also great. (mostly reds: cabernet's, merlot's, pinot noir's, borduex's, etc)
Being on foot in the woods is great.
Fishing is a wonderful way to relax and spend time with your son.
Float trips in canoes are fun.
A good Scotch is worth the money.
My wife and son are awesome.

RE: My opinion thread
I saw him @ The Tower Theater in Passaic NJ in the late 70's? early 80? we were going into the show and there was a bunch of people camping out for concert tickets that were going on sale the next day. We asked them who they were waiting to get tickets for and they said Bon Jovi, we were like who the hell is Bon Jovi? I guess the jokes on me! Anyway I really miss that guy! The sky is indeed crying

RE: My opinion thread
Damn straight on all counts! (though I don't have kids.)
SRV was great though I didn't learn this 'til he was gone.
I'm brewing a batch of porter right now.
Red wine does fine when I'm out of beer.
Being on foot in the woods is very good.
I fly fished with my dad when I was a boy.
Float trips are fun.
Scotch. Yes. Scotch.
And a good wife is worth her weight in gold.

Good opinions Baume 66

I agree withya on the fishing and canoe parts. I don't touch the booze so on you on there. I never did realy like SRV too much. HE COULD JAM that's for sure but his guitar tone was SO annoying!

RE: My opinion thread
All booze is good, in my opinion. But I'm partial to good red wine.

When I went hiking in E. Tennessee earlier this year I met this couple whose folks used to make moonshine, and they say it's better than anything if it's well made. Quite a few folks now make it as a hobby, and it's very high quality. Some even put their stills on the front porch and the revenoors don't even care (cause they're not selling).

SRV was great, but I prefer the more vicious style of Pete Townsend.

RE: My opinion thread
Some pretty controversial statements there, Baume66. ;-)

I know SRV mostly from his work with other artists. He did an awesome version of Pipeline with Dick Dale (King of the Surf Guitar), who is pretty awesome himself (if you ever get a chance to see him live, do it!).

What's your Scotch preference? I like the Islay malts, because they're the smokiest--Lagavulin and Laphroaig especially.

RE: My opinion thread
So barlo, when my wife compains about how she thinks she weighs too much I can say that since you're a good wife, and good wives are worth their wt in gold to not worry about it. Have that extra drumbstick. GREAT ANSWER!!! I'm going to remember that one.

I agree with you on the smokier malts tehipite. Lagavulin and Oban are rather tastey. I've never tried Laphroaig. I don't care for the sweeter ones (Dalwhinnie).

RE: My opinion thread
Laphroaig was the first Islay malt I ever tried (some 15 years ago), and it was a revelation. It had a much more intense smoky flavor than anything I had tried before. I think it's a little more intense than Lagavulin--a little rougher around the edges--but Lagavulin is still smokier than most other single malts. By the way, Bowmore is another quite decent Islay malt--no Laphroaig or Lagavulin, but quite decent--and Trader Joe's has it for $19.99 a bottle.
