You look at the men's Big 10 league tourney... why it's IOWA on top again!!

The men's team has had a string of bad luck a mile long after a good start to the season. All I know is Friday night the local TV sportscaster said they were way down and pretty much out. I thought I was seeing things yesterday when they were on TV.

I don't know what the NCAA holds, but the end of the season has us Hawkeyes cheering pretty loud!!! GO HAWKS!”

“Ditto, lizs! Let's hear it for the Hawkeyes!!!! While we're at it, for the Iowa State Cyclones women and men's teams.

IOWA has three teams (UI, ISU, DRAKE) in the women's NCAA, and the Hawks & 'Clones in the men's NCAA.

AND>>> there's a small Iowa college -- Northwestern -- with both men's and women's teams in the NAIA Div II NATIONAL FINAL FOUR! (They both play tonight... the women in Sioux City... the men at College of the Ozarks.)

IOWA: BASKETBALL CAPITAL OF THE WORLD! (Indiana, eat your heart out... especially since we've got Alford and you don't!!)

The University of Northern Iowa women?s basketball team (18-10, 12-6 MVC) has advanced to the WNIT for the first time in school history and will open up Friday at DePaul (17-13). The game will be played on campus at the DePaul Athletic Center (3,000) and start at 7 p.m.

The UNI-DePaul winner will face the winner of Wednesday's Cincinnati at Ohio State game at a site and date to be determined. Second round games are scheduled for March 17-19. All WNIT games are held on campus sites.

“Geeze Liz are you for real??? You have never heard of the Cincinnati Bearcats!!! Nine straight NCAA Mens basketball appearances. Granted they have struggled making it past the second round these past few years and have a date with Stanford(darn) come Thursday. Back to back champs in the earlier 60's and a final four in the earlier 90's. If Kenyon Martin(no.1 draft pick in NBA) did not go down last year in a conference title game, they may have gone awhole lot further than the 1st round.
