But I was thinking she bought me some 12yr old. Never had 18yr old! I get Macallan, she got a ring. A very nice xmas but what the hell are we gonna do next year?” 7:39:05 PM 1/14/06 “Macallan sells some older vintages, you can check them out at their website. In the DC area, you might even be able to find a shop that sells them. There is always better jewelry, of course.” 9:17:24 PM 1/14/06 “There is always better jewelry, of course. bitpusher 10:17:24 PM 1/14/06 fergit that! Better, as in cost more but 'taint the same. Thank God! ;)” 9:37:05 PM 1/14/06 “Did you know that you can actually go to Scottland and purchase a cask of whiskey from any of the vinters there. Last time I checked it was between 3,000 to 7,000 a cask. Of course you have to sit on it for the next 15 years or so (they keey it there for you in the right conditions). But still it sounds like a pretty cool investment.” 10:06:23 PM 1/14/06 “I hope I can go back to 12yr old. bearmagnet Pedophile!!!!” 10:08:57 PM 1/14/06 “Did I say 12? I meant 17.” 10:11:57 PM 1/14/06 “I put an ice cube (filtered water, of course) in with my Macallan 18yr old. I've never added ice. I'm not sure it was a great idea.” 7:18:09 PM 2/10/06 “How TF do ya filter an ice cube??” 7:24:50 PM 2/10/06 “filtered water -> freezer -> filtered cube” 7:26:52 PM 2/10/06 “I'm into the vodka again tonight !!screwdrivers yummy :)” 7:29:14 PM 2/10/06 “I have some Grey Goose but that's mostly for Dani.” 7:30:52 PM 2/10/06 “Xcrewdrivers..........screw that!!” 7:31:58 PM 2/10/06 “I'm getting a good buzz on to meet with the boss for dinner, it makes the blaa blaa blaa go much better !” 7:34:25 PM 2/10/06 “Back to Macallan straight” 7:41:37 PM 2/10/06 “Isn't that the Straight of Magellan? Oh nevermind!” 8:06:29 PM 2/10/06 “I found a great bargain scotch. Ive been looking for a less expensive scotch that I can enjoy more often. I found a single malt called McClellands. It doesnt even say its aged on the bottle and it costs $20 a bottle. So I took a chance. Turns out it is owned by a company that has three distilleries throughout Scotland and they bottle their other scotches under the one McClelland name and they are all five year old scotches. The three they offer are Lowland (which is actually Auchentoshan), Highland (which is actually Glen Garioch), and Islay (which is actually Bowmore). I had some last weekend and it is a great scotch for the price. I had already had a couple big ales but Id say its almost as good as the 12 year old Glenlevit. Almost though. Its definitely going to be my every day choice. Single malt at blend prices. What could be better?” 9:07:53 AM 5/02/06 “Q: Single malt at blend prices. What could be better? A: A Stout at a Light price” 9:25:52 AM 5/02/06 “Wow. Having a nice scotch as often as a decent whiskey? My liver might kill me if I find this. Thanks.” 9:30:41 AM 5/02/06 “After reading more about Bowmor I found out that their Bowmor Legend single malt with no age printed on it is actually 8-10 years old and I found prices from $18-$24.” 9:36:05 AM 5/02/06 “I have yet to try an islay. So hard for me to get out of my Scotch Rut. But at these prices i might be able to.” 9:49:29 AM 5/02/06 “anyone ever had The Famous Grouse Scotch Whiskey?” 9:59:03 AM 5/02/06 “Never heard of it Ewker. Is it good?” 3:44:32 PM 5/02/06 “I don't know.. a friend bought a half gallon of it, unfortunately I didn't get to sample it. She said it is smoother than Dewars (sp)I haven't had it either We drank 2 bottles of wine instead :)” 3:52:01 PM 5/02/06 “I've never had Dewers either. I've only had one blend and that was that Chivas Regal crap. I've never had another blend sense.” 3:56:35 PM 5/02/06 “Dead N Bloated, the whiskey I told you about is Michael Collins single malt, very good.” 6:58:27 PM 5/02/06 “famous grouse is not bad as blended whiskys go Ewker.” 7:12:19 PM 5/02/06 “Smugglars has always been my favorite & inexpensive too. I got snookered on some scotch at my nephews wedding in Salem, Mass a few weeks ago. It was pretty decent stuff but never got around to asking what it was. Those Boston Irish Catholics CAN drink. last edited: 5/02/06 7:16:33 PM” 7:14:08 PM 5/02/06 “I don't think I can go back to blended whisky.” 7:27:51 PM 5/02/06 “So I went to my favorite liquor store and wanted to try some new scotch. I've been looking for the best bang for my buck scotches of late and found another great one. I got a bottle of 10 year old Speyburn single malt. WOW! A great scotch for a great price of $21. It's got more taste to it than the McClellands I tried last time. Its a bit stronger too at 43% alcohol. Ya wouldnt think the 3% would make that much of a difference but it does. I can drink quite a bit of the 40% without getting too sloppy. So yesterday I was watching some movies and had a few Sam Adams in the fridge and thought, Its 5 oclock somewhere., and had a few beers. Then I decided to try the new scotch and had three small glasses. It was wonderful but I have to remind myself that for every glass (about two fingers) of scotch I have is like drinking two or three beers. I guess what Im trying to say is ended up somewhat inebriated. LOL!” 7:34:28 AM 7/20/06 “Scotch works great on bug bites. Internally and externally.” 12:15:31 PM 7/20/06 “Nigal- please report to the "Posting Hungover" thread.” 12:23:00 PM 7/20/06 “Some of my favorite gifts from the wedding: http://community.webshots.com/photo/552375137/2716688360082804173TaSKml” 12:28:55 PM 7/20/06 “DAMN! What's the Glenlivet 21 like?” 1:31:06 PM 7/20/06 “I'll let you know soon. Tonight perhaps. ;) the worst(?) thing is there was no card with it. I have no idea who it's from.” 2:13:30 PM 7/20/06 “A gift from G-d then! At least you're going to crack the seal rather than say it's too special to open and leave it dusty on a shelf. LOL!” 2:14:42 PM 7/20/06 “LOL! Exactly! One friend who got us a bottle of Veuve Clicquot La Grande Dame Brut, 1996, said: "Unfortunately, champagne had gotten a reputation for only being useful on 'special' occasions. I think that couldn't be more wrong. Any day that you can share a glass with your best friend and toast to the daily pleasures in life is the right occassion." I think that sentiment will sit well with the Scotch. And the bottle of Ron Zacapa Centenario 23 Anos Rum...another gift from God. I think God must think we are alcoholics? At least we are alcoholics with taste, no? last edited: 7/20/06 3:01:20 PM” 2:56:33 PM 7/20/06 “While I don't mind drinking the cheaper stuff for myself but when it comes to a trip or something I always bring out the top shelf stuff for sharing. Good wiskey isn't worth drinking if it's not worth sharing with friends.” 3:00:17 PM 7/20/06 “HEAR! HEAR! Nigal! I bought my old man a bottle of Old Charter Proprietors Reserve 13y/o bourbon for his retirement 4 years ago, and it is still sitting in his pantry. The irony of it all is that I can remember as a child, him complaining about how he bought his dad a bottle of high end booze of some kind, and ten years later he still hadn't cracked the seal.” 3:06:40 PM 7/20/06 “I just opened my Glenlivet: 1. The Glenlivet, ''Archive'' 21 Yr. Single Malt (Speyside) Deep, Multi-layered and mellow. The distilleries most exceptional casks are set aside over the years by each Distillery manager in the 'Archive'. There the chosen casks mature to perfection, achieving an elegance that only a privileged few have the opportunity to appreciate. All aged for a minimum 21 years, some for many more. Color: Deep Amber. Nose: Rich with deep floral and multi-layered fruity aromas. Taste: Multi-layered fruits and floral sweetness and almost creamy smooth texture. Finish: Rich, long and lingering. Or, in my own words: Good Mother#&%!$ing Choice! Ok not really my words but suits me better. I would say That's some good #&%!$!” 5:23:28 PM 7/20/06 “I popped for a bottle of 15 year old Glenlivet and was amazed. Well worth the price. That 21 must be like pure silk.” 5:37:01 PM 7/20/06 “Yes. pure silk would be another excellent description.” 5:54:02 PM 7/20/06 “I got some 12 downstairs. There are drawbacks to being cheap. I've had a couple glasses of wine, maybe I should stick to the Canadian Club tonight?” 6:49:34 PM 7/20/06 “Since we catered our own wedding we have about 3 cases of wine, and a few liters of vodka, whiskey, and gin left over. The rail vodka & gin might be difficult to use up.” 7:14:09 PM 7/20/06 “Isle of Jura 10yr old is very nice also.” 9:02:44 PM 7/20/06 “Nigal I found McClellands this weekend at a Virginia ABC store. What a dangerous store! they had Macallan 25yr old but I didn't happen to have $520.00 in my pocket. But i did have the $22.00 for a 750 of McClelland's. I was quite pleased with it. As you said, it's nice to have a very affordable and drinkable single malt in the house.” 12:39:00 PM 11/06/06 “Hmmm. I guess I need to go shopping. I wanted the Johnny Walker Blue on the last trip, but $150 was a little steep to leave out around the campfire.” 12:40:29 PM 11/06/06 “Glad ya liked the McClealands Bear. With a single malt this good why would anyone pay the same price for a blend? Check this out. A video of an auction where they sold a bottle of 64 year old Glenfiddich single malt for...wait for it...$20,000! http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=1800063148692481735&q=scotch+whiskey” 12:45:22 PM 11/06/06 “I wanted the Johnny Walker Blue on the last trip, but $150 was a little steep to leave out around the campfire.” chili 1:40:29 PM 11/06/06 i see. How far are you from DC?” 12:46:38 PM 11/06/06 “Jesus christ! For that price I would expect an orgasm from every sip!” 12:52:08 PM 11/06/06 “I thought YOU did get an orgasm/spasm with every sip.” 12:57:20 PM 11/06/06 Jump to Page << prev
