hey buddur - john paul jones (wasnt he in an english band in the 70's?), king crimson would be the band. never heard much of king crimson, but adrian belew certainly knows how to play that guitar. i havent seen much in the way of national tunes lately, but wilco w/ the mother hips are coming to denver in a couple weeks and i'm pretty psyched for that. have fun at the show...

Whatsoever I've feared has come to life
Whatsoever I've fought off became my life
Just when everyday seemed to greet me with a smile
Sunspots have faded
And now I'm doing time
Cause I fell on black days

Whomsoever I've cured I've sickened now
Whomsoever I've cradled I've put you down
I'm a search light soul they say
But I can't see it in the night
I'm only faking when I get it right
Cause I fell on black days
How would I know
That this could be my fate

So what you wanted to see good has made you blind
And what you wanted to be yours has made it mine
So don't you lock up something that you wanted to see fly
Hands are for shaking
No, not tying
No, not tying

I sure don't mind a change
But I fell on black days
How would I know
That this could be my fate

Two Thumbs Up
If anyone gets a chance to see the King Crimson and John Paul Jones concert tour...DO IT.

If anything, just to see John Paul Jones 'cause that dood still rocks as hard as Zeppelin did. It was him, a drummer, and a kilted dood playing a 10-string Bass Stick. Trey Gunn of King Crimson played a similar instrument but it was a Warr Guitar.

JPJ's set was all instrumental, hard, heavy, complex and loud. The encore had JPJ playing a lap steel slide and started with a "In My Time Of Dying" tease and into a long "Black Dog" jam.

Crimson was as unique as usual, very tight and I swear each song contains more notes than all the songs played in one day from ANY radio station in this country. It was mostly instrumental, and seemed like exercises in musical endurance...nothing like the "Court of the Crimson King" days. Those guys are intense.

Dark Star Orchestra is an excellent band for all who love the Dead. They completely recreate a Dead show, then take guesses from the audience at the end as to which one it was...then they tell you. A very fun experience that I highly recommend!
