Llama Trip 2001 - 7 day group thread (3/ 15)View MessagesRE: Llama Trip 2001 - 7 day group thread (3/15) “Oh, we already KNOW you're crazy. I think I'm going to ask kleetn if we can borrow his squirrel for you to sleep with.” 12:25:37 PM 4/16/01 RE: Llama Trip 2001 - 7 day group thread (3/15) “Don't go gettin' squirrelly woman!” 12:42:23 PM 4/16/01 RE: Llama Trip 2001 - 7 day group thread (3/15) “Excuse me?.... Mel are you saying I'm crazy? What did I do to deserve to sleep with a squirrel? Hmmmm?....[Extremely puzzled by this turn of events.] Phil, I went looking for plane tickets into Ontario on Saturday, July 28th. No Such Luck. Booked solid. So I asked for a ticket into John Wayne Airport and got one. I hope this is not a big problem for you. Also I'm flying out of Sac late Friday night August 10th. I'll send you an e-mail with the details.” 4:35:58 PM 4/16/01 RE: Llama Trip 2001 - 7 day group thread (3/15) “Phil thanks for the research! I'm starting to rethink that route, but the ADVENTURE is still calling. Can we start now?” 10:08:23 PM 4/16/01 RE: Llama Trip 2001 - 7 day group thread (3/15) “Nelson Eddy is also calling, Yoooo, hooooooo, but we don't answer him, do we? Tommy my sweet... Where you at?” 11:28:54 PM 4/16/01 RE: Llama Trip 2001 - 7 day group thread (3/15) “i suppose a 10 day groupie shouldnt clutter up the 7 day groupers thread...but... the last time i was in california was when my grandmother took my sister and i out there to visit a cousin in LA...i was ten and we took a greyhound bus all the way from tampa....i just remember staring out the window at the mountains and desert wishing i were riding a horse thru all that to LA instead of being in that smelly bus and all that recycled air.... and now i am going to the sierras for real and be outside!! i am getting way to excited reading these posts.... i shouldnt get this worked up before bed..... nite!” 12:02:20 AM 4/17/01 RE: Llama Trip 2001 - 7 day group thread (3/15) “Sweet dreams.” 1:40:19 AM 4/17/01 RE: Llama Trip 2001 - 7 day group thread (3/15) “Finally got to check the threads today! Sol - I got your email. I'll write back soon. John Wayne Airport is 20 minutes from my house, but the other direction. No problemo. Nice airport, too. I got my new Exponent Inyo 2 tent today via Fed Ex. Kinda cute. I am anxious to try it out a few times before the llama trip. All my other tents are free standing, so this will be interesting. Nice and light, though. Sounds like everyone's excited! I can't wait either.” 4:24:06 AM 4/17/01 RE: Llama Trip 2001 - 7 day group thread (3/15) “Heads up about the possible high winds around Whitney. I had a long discussion with my friends who did Whitney last October. They said that Trail Camp (our last night out) can get extremely windy. The complicating problem is that the ground is too hard to drive tent stakes to secure the tents. They had "rock bags" with them that they made themselves. They fill them with rocks and attach the bag where the tent peg loops are using little caribiners on braided wire. Then they piled rocks on top of those to secure the tent more. Their tent was very wind proof after that. The rock bags are about 10"x15", made of nylon (or similar), and have four grommets in them so the caribiners are easy to use.” 4:15:30 AM 4/23/01
