I you already have a map then I suggest hiking into camp via the Dog hole trail. It'd be much easier to find your way after dark. The gorge trail is tough enough in the day time. Too bad Sarabelle can't come too. We'll miss her.”

“Just in case anyone is interested, The temps during the day are hitting 80 and at night about 50. At night a tarp my be too buggy so I will prolly use my Cobra. I already have my first sunburn.

“We get copperheads in the water sometimes but they go away when ya get in. I've only seen one Rattler and he was way off the trail.
I did see my first snake this year just yesterday. It was a Black Racer. I played with him and did my best Crocodile hunter impression. I had my brother ROTGLHAO.”

“I can picture that. How's your accent? My neighbor saw a copperhead last week. They're fun to watch, snakes not my neighbor. Well, my neighbors are fun to but....”

Are you comming Friday morning for the Savage Gulf part or just the FG part?”

“I am officialy for sure off of work Thursday night and Monday day. I'll be leaving Richmond Thursday morning at 6AM when I get out of work (actually, probably 8AM after breakfast with wife and boy). I reckon it will take about 9 hours to get there. Car camping at Racoon Mountain Thursday night? walkindude, is there any where close to the Gulf to camp? Near/at the trail head for Friday morning. I'll probably sleep in the back of my truck so I won't need to pitch a tent. I am anxious to meet everyone.”

If you want to head on to SG, there is a campsite right next to the parking area at the Stone Door Ranger Station. Camping is free there.”

“yeah and remember to bring your work gloves cuz they are gunna need help making those suspenion bridges!”

“Yeah, Baume66. You may still might wanna swing by the South Cumberland Visitors center area if you get there early enough. There's plenty of little short stuff in that area to see. Grundy Lakes is a nice little Day hike. It's on the FG map. Plus there's some Day trails right behind the Visitors Center. It's only about 30 mins from SG from there.”

Where are yall camping Friday Night?”

“Wow! Good thing I was talking to my sister tonight. Can you believe they moved the airport on me?! Yep. About three years ago, they moved it to an old Air Force base. Sheesh. I go away for 10 years and they start moving everything around on me. I would have been mighty upset if I missed my flight!”

“We'll either do Fri night at Suck Creek, or Poplar Spring. Depends on what we might get a hinkering for around Signal Pt. and Chatt area. If we include a dayhike or 2, we may just do Thurs night at Middle Creek and Fri at Suck, and if we feel like hustling on Thurs, then we'll do Suck Creek Thurs night and Poplar Spring on Fri night. Possibly we won't even know until we hit the road on Thurs morning. If we know beforehand tho, I'll give ya a yell.

Gotta tell ya tho WD that I could be in the midst of a clusterhump. I've a Gramma for the 2.5 yr old, but it's looking like the other 2 Great Gramma's may not be able to look after the 1 yr old ....... rutrow!

Worst case scenario, I'll be transporting our Yankee friends out Chattanooga ways, but may not be able to make any actual backpacking ........ dadjimmit! I'll know more after this weekend Jer and Cowplop! BUT NO WORRIES YOU 2!!! I'VE GOT YA COVERED IN ALL ASPECTS WITH THE POSSIBILITY OF NOT BEING ABLE TO DO ANY ACTUAL BACKPACKING WITH YUN'S. NOW TAKE NOTE: THIS IS ONLY THE WORST CASE SCENARIO!!
