Anyone daring enough for this “I noticed in backpacker magazine that mountain hardwear is selling a kilt to wear on the trail. Anyone out there willing to try this thing?” 9:51:51 PM 3/17/01 RE: Anyone daring enough for this “hell yeah” 10:12:15 PM 3/17/01 RE: Anyone daring enough for this “I'd wear one. Not constricting. Great range of movement. Keeps the boys cool on a hot day. Sure, why not?” 10:28:09 PM 3/17/01 RE: Anyone daring enough for this “Maybe not now but after I go to Europe this Summer I'd feel more comfortable about doing it.” 10:52:02 PM 3/17/01 RE: Anyone daring enough for this “Maybe not now but after I go to Europe this Summer I'd feel more comfortable about doing it.” 10:52:04 PM 3/17/01 RE: Anyone daring enough for this “I had heard of this but never saw this style of clothes on the trail. I would wear one if the Mtn. Hardwear logo was in just the right spot!LOL. Sure would make hiking with the sh!ts easy.” 12:15:39 AM 3/18/01 RE: Anyone daring enough for this “LOL!” 12:25:45 AM 3/18/01 RE: Anyone daring enough for this “I wonder if a kilt would help my husband get in the mood for... washing dishes at the camp site! very funny didjfan” 2:10:28 PM 3/18/01 RE: Anyone daring enough for this “Guy bp'ing in a kilt? I've never even seen a gal bp'ing in a skirt! hmmmm... kinda odd, come to think of it. Gals not in skirts, that is. Why is that?” 3:44:49 PM 3/18/01 RE: Anyone daring enough for this “I would if I could go without boxers... Ahhhh think of the cool breezes!” 7:16:31 PM 3/18/01 RE: Anyone daring enough for this “But wouldn't you miss that sense of... well, containment that comes along with a good pair of unders? And $85.00 is a lot of dinero for a skirt.” 8:05:01 PM 3/18/01 RE: Anyone daring enough for this “I've seen a chick in a skirt. It was a sundress actually. Solitary, I believe it's the norm to go "commando" in a kilt. Ever hear the joke about the scot who passed out drunk in the village green? A girl wandered by and decided to take a peek under his kilt to see what he wore beneath it. Finding nothing but his natural state she tied her hair ribbon on his member. Upon waking the scot went to take a leak. When he saw the ribbon he remaked "I don't know where ya been laddie but I see ya won first prize!". HAAHAA.” 8:47:39 PM 3/18/01 RE: Anyone daring enough for this “Frankly I just don't see the need. Shorts or hiking pants have always worked well enough for me. I mean, I've never stopped in the middle of a hike and said "Boy I wish I had a kilt right now!"” 9:10:52 PM 3/18/01 RE: Anyone daring enough for this “Wait till you have one of those high steps up a rock or somethin'...and we'll see whos smiling at you =8)” 9:22:44 PM 3/18/01 RE: Anyone daring enough for this “Only if it came in TNF orange and had an optional gore-tex shell.” 9:36:07 PM 3/18/01 RE: Anyone daring enough for this “I know my gonads would love it, the freedom, the breezes, the scratching of bug bites, the stinging of DEET on freshly scratch nads. I tell ya, after spending the summer in the Arctic, slapping blood swollen skeeters off my gential area as I TRIED to dump, I don't think I would be caught dead in that skirt without some extra wrapping around the boys. Imagine getting some crazied bug(bee, wasp, horsefly, etc) stuck up underneath it. I would love to see that can-can dance!!!!” 9:44:48 PM 3/18/01 RE: Anyone daring enough for this “Could ya take a dump without taking it off? Hmmmmmmmmmmm!” 10:05:52 PM 3/18/01 RE: Anyone daring enough for this “gojo, if women wore skirts while hiking, you could see up the skirts.” 11:30:22 PM 3/18/01 RE: Anyone daring enough for this “Everyone'll have lil' mirrors on their hikin' poles! Yech ;{” 11:33:20 PM 3/18/01 RE: Anyone daring enough for this “I've hiked in the indian version of a kilt(not great but interesting) and I've worn kilts in formal events. If my ancestors could fight military campaigns in a kilt they can't be that bad for hiking. After all; wouldn't most of the time in a campaign be spent hiking from one battle to the next, carrying most everything you'll need? Plus; if you were going to shank someone in the backwoods wouldn't you think twice about messing with the guy that was crazy enough to wear a dress in the woods?” 11:49:32 PM 3/18/01 RE: Anyone daring enough for this “If I were going to shank someone in the woods...I wouldn't be able to hide the thought from th'girl if'n I wasn't wearin' somethin' under tha thing!” 11:54:11 PM 3/18/01 RE: Anyone daring enough for this “I see it on the mh website but I don't see it in the magazine. Is it in outside or backpacker? Where in the issue is it? Some guys play ultimate frisbee in kilts for the mobility and this would be a lot lighter, actually. 8-)” 5:31:03 AM 3/19/01 RE: Anyone daring enough for this “It's in Backpacker. Back section of gear reviews. 85 bucks is rediculous! Um, on second thought, I'd be glad to sew you one up at half the price;-) I know several guys who are into Contra Dancing that wear calf length skirts while dancing.” 3:37:16 PM 3/19/01 RE: Anyone daring enough for this “i've got a wool one, but it's way too hot for hiking in.” 3:56:14 PM 3/19/01 RE: Anyone daring enough for this “I met a Northbound through-hiker last year in Maine (near Saddleback) who was wearing a kilt. I think his trailname was "thoroughfare gap." He looked the part, a big bushy blonde brown beard, long wild hair and he was wearing it when it was 39 degrees. He was almost done and making good time. I think he had a web journal...” 4:00:23 PM 3/19/01 RE: Anyone daring enough for this “Do they make them with tale holes? /o:3” 5:23:50 PM 3/19/01 RE: Anyone daring enough for this “The only kilt I'm ever going to wear is one with made of Gordon plaid of my Scottish ancestors. Besides, that would be the last place I would want exposed to mesquitos!” 5:24:37 PM 3/19/01 RE: Anyone daring enough for this “http://homepages.go.com/homepages/e/r/i/erikeichinger/ this is the website for Thoroughfare Gap, the thru hiker with the kilt.” 1:52:24 PM 3/22/01 RE: Anyone daring enough for this “We ran into him on August 19th... I notice that for his AUgust 23rd entry there is a picture of him at the AT 2000 mile mark with his kilt.” 1:55:44 PM 3/22/01
