If you're making all those gear decisions prior to the race, I guess you can't plan for everything. Seems like there's lots of unknowns involved. Can't wait to watch it.

Anyone ever think of being a volunteer?

MAN!!! those feet looked horrible. Some of them look like they were wearing running shoes and it look like no one was at all concerned about their feet from the get go. I would be curious to hear what the winning team did about their feet. You gotta take care of your dogs. Tevas would have been nice, anything would have been better than hike in soggy soak and shoes. Take the time to address the problem, change socks or shoes for that matter.

Hmmm...
At Cumberland Island and Cohutta Wilderness (wet locales), I don't even break stride when I reach water. I know I have two more pairs of socks, so I don't sweat it.

The only time I've had a problem with blisters was on Cumberland, but it was due to sweat-soaked socks, not water.

I've only recently started packing moleskin, but I've yet to use it - and hopefully never will. But... who knows?

I've been packing Moleskin for years now and I usually wind up giving it to others. I don't know when the last time I used it myself was.

That ol' moleskin voodoo. Carry it and you will thereby prevent blisters ... but leave it home and you're sure to need it.

Maybe the lesson of the adventure races is that haste makes mistakes.

I've never had a single blister. Even with wet socks. I think it's because of te way smartwool wicks moisture, or it could be the moleskin voodoo.

Does Smartwool feel like wool? Wool itches me to death but I'd like to give it a try if it doesn't.

RE: eco-challenge borneo
Smartwool feels great - doesn't itch and still has that warm when wet quality.
