Let me expand on my original question. I have been looking at the possibility of climbing Whitney from a base camp in Mitre Basin. This would mean (at least in my imagination) climbing Crabtree Pass from the south, countouring around below Whitney Pass, and then heading for Discovery Pass. Is this feasible? As a day hike?”
