A hiking Kilt?

“I have a hard time believing that a kilt will breathe better and be more agile than loose shorts. I could be wrong though. I think the kilt is just a matter of "someone was gonna make it sooner or later"!

“Mountain Hardwear is the manufacturer of the hiking kilt reviewed in Back Packer. At a mere cost of 85.00. Didn't give a list of any retailers.

As far as the "real McCoy" goes, they have to be special ordered. There may be some off the rack touristy place that sells them.”

“I just checked out Mountain Hardwear's site. The kilt they're sporting is hideous. I'd rather spend a little money and get something that I wouldn't be laughed off the trail for wearing. It's not even pleaded!”

“I think they just stole one of the women's travel skirts from Travelsmith. I've seen something pretty close to that. My wife has some Travelsmith ultralight Supplex nylon skirts, lower calf length, that she prefers to pants or shorts in hot weather. Quick dry, wash anywhere, airy to wear. One of those skirts, an Ex Officio quick dry sleeveless shirt, and silk-weight Patagonia undies got her through a heat wave in Finland that lasted most of two weeks and ruled out most of her other wardrobe. The other people on the trip suffered. It was more than 80 at the Arctic Circle!

So the skirt/kilt idea has merits for some, but Mountain Hardwear is not on the right wavelength for men with this design.”
