A hiking Kilt? “Who plans on buying one of those new hiking Kilts? I'm sure ole Jerbear will be first to start this new trend. So the rest of you guys better place an order or you'll be left behind. LOL” 5:52:59 PM 3/26/01 RE: A hiking Kilt? “Does one havta squat over the urinal with that on ? (BTW, seenit in BP Mag... Not for me ... too muchta be flailing round there)” 6:00:01 PM 3/26/01 RE: A hiking Kilt? “I've suspected a few of my hiking pals have been wearing skirts under their pants for years! How much further? Man, my knees? Yada, yada, yada...” 6:00:07 PM 3/26/01 RE: A hiking Kilt? “Oops. That is: Man my knees!” 6:01:24 PM 3/26/01 RE: A hiking Kilt? “Yeah, gee, I'd love to wear a kilt on the trail, but doesn't one wear those bare-legged? I'd hate to leave my pantyhose at home.” 6:50:09 PM 3/26/01 RE: A hiking Kilt? “I have a hard time believing that a kilt will breathe better and be more agile than loose shorts. I could be wrong though. I think the kilt is just a matter of "someone was gonna make it sooner or later"! I got a pair of Gramicci pants with lots of breathable mesh that I wear in the summer. You think a kilt looks funny?...You should see my legs!” 7:15:02 PM 3/26/01 RE: A hiking Kilt? “I like the Railriders Eco-mesh pants. Enough ventilation and protects your legs from nettles and solar damage.” 7:38:45 PM 3/26/01 RE: A hiking Kilt? “I could see Jerbear in one. He'd look like a real Scottsman. ..........playing the Sleeping Bagpipes. LOL!!” 10:03:39 PM 3/26/01 RE: A hiking Kilt? “Didn't we just have a thread about hiking kilts....?” 9:09:29 AM 3/27/01 RE: A hiking Kilt? “Let me tell you 2 words about wearing a skirt and walking without proper under garments, THIGH CHAFING!” 9:13:36 AM 3/27/01 RE: A hiking Kilt? “yea, if women don't wear skirts on the trail out of normal habit, doesn't it seem that the natural order of things would be to stay away from skirts?” 9:19:45 AM 3/27/01 RE: A hiking Kilt? “Maybe it's just a "@ camp" thing.” 7:09:32 PM 3/27/01 RE: A hiking Kilt? “hey I have worn a skirt out hiking ,But I want to be there when Jer does!LOL” 2:09:29 PM 3/28/01 RE: A hiking Kilt? “Where does one buy a kilt? Or at least where does Backpacker Magazine say one could buy a kilt?” 2:29:17 PM 3/28/01 RE: A hiking Kilt? “Mountain Hardwear is the manufacturer of the hiking kilt reviewed in Back Packer. At a mere cost of 85.00. Didn't give a list of any retailers. As far as the "real McCoy" goes, they have to be special ordered. There may be some off the rack touristy place that sells them.” 2:42:24 PM 3/28/01 RE: A hiking Kilt? “I just checked out Mountain Hardwear's site. The kilt they're sporting is hideous. I'd rather spend a little money and get something that I wouldn't be laughed off the trail for wearing. It's not even pleaded!” 3:50:46 PM 3/28/01 RE: A hiking Kilt? “...and no plaid tartan patterns either!” 4:02:02 PM 3/28/01 RE: A hiking Kilt? “It's no kilt, it's a miniskirt made from quick-dry material. Back to the drawing board with you Mountain Hardwear!” 4:10:47 PM 3/28/01 RE: A hiking Kilt? “I think they just stole one of the women's travel skirts from Travelsmith. I've seen something pretty close to that. My wife has some Travelsmith ultralight Supplex nylon skirts, lower calf length, that she prefers to pants or shorts in hot weather. Quick dry, wash anywhere, airy to wear. One of those skirts, an Ex Officio quick dry sleeveless shirt, and silk-weight Patagonia undies got her through a heat wave in Finland that lasted most of two weeks and ruled out most of her other wardrobe. The other people on the trip suffered. It was more than 80 at the Arctic Circle! So the skirt/kilt idea has merits for some, but Mountain Hardwear is not on the right wavelength for men with this design.” 4:39:35 PM 3/28/01 RE: A hiking Kilt? “Q: Why do Scottish men wear kilts? A: Sheep can hear a zipper a mile away.” 12:51:45 PM 4/19/01 RE: A hiking Kilt? “I've been using a sorong that I picked up in indonesia, for in camp or day hiking, though my boy's need a house.” 1:01:38 PM 4/19/01 RE: A hiking Kilt? “At least you won't get jock itch. Can you get Kilt itch?” 9:51:25 PM 4/19/01 RE: A hiking Kilt? “When a mosquito flies up your kilt, you'll have kilt itch in no time. 8-)” 11:23:48 PM 4/19/01 RE: A hiking Kilt? “night vision, that's what I was thinking! OWA!” 12:11:54 AM 4/20/01 RE: A hiking Kilt? 10:21:26 AM 4/27/01 RE: A hiking Kilt? “It's made by MH, so it has to be good!” 10:57:41 AM 4/27/01 “does anyone have a link on where to purchase thses? I tried google and all I am finding are actual scottish kilts.” 10:03:38 PM 6/21/06 never mind, I found one. thanks 10:07:32 PM 6/21/06 10:12:22 PM 6/21/06 “Um..gotta ask...WHY?” 6:05:13 AM 6/22/06 6:08:51 AM 6/22/06 “Gotta have it.” 6:19:09 AM 6/22/06 “Don't get sand in your ver-gina.” 6:30:15 AM 6/22/06 6:41:53 AM 6/22/06 6:47:52 AM 6/22/06
